Can't dust for prints?

Hi everyone,
I have a sim in the Private Investigator career track and I'm currently doing The Mystery of the Naked Ring Finger. Right now, I'm supposed to dust for prints in the dining room. The issue with this is because whoever owns the house is out. Not a problem, I'll just break in (shhh). However, my sim automatically tries to leave the home while in the middle of dusting for prints, probably because nobody is here. I wrestle with him a few times about this and now he automatically teleports out of the house.

Does anyone know a way of making this stop? The only way I can think of is to wait for the homeowner to come home and invite me in, but I doubt she'll take kindly to me dusting her counter.

    I had the same issue, couldn't find an answer online. I know it's kinda late, but maybe someone will be searching for answer as I was, so here it is.

    In my case, I waited for the owner to be at home, I rang the bell and waited to be invited in. Then, I dusted the prints while the owner of the house was in the other room. And it worked. There were pets in that house, so that could've been the reason of the glitch in the first place.

    I'm having this issue too. What ever happened? Did you get it figured out?
