Do you like player made towns? You could try Mesa Grande. It's a base game town with some CC that comes included. Of course, everybody's game experience is different but for me this town performs immaculately. There's no lag. I have the 1.5 version which has a unique sports center and more trees but I don't see it on the official forum post. Maybe I missed it...in any case the 1.5 version can be found here.
