CD/No CD, Origin, and Patch level

Question:
If I had all my Sims 3 games loaded and registered on my old computer (and therefore, have the key codes) and want to install them on my new computer (using an external usb disc drive because of course, the new puter doesn't have one) but can't find my Island Paradise or World Adventures discs, is it possible to download these two from Origin but keep patch 1.67 as I do not want patch 1.69?
So far everything I've read and tried says no... but I'm stubborn, I guess, and don't like that answer so I have to believe there is some benevolent Sim guardian watching over us who will say, "Why yes, yes you can!".

When I had all my discs on the old computer, I was able to stay at patch 1.63 (though I don't mind patching up to 1.67) but in order to add WA and IP, I need to download them from Origin since I can't find them and whenever I do that, it makes me patch to 1.69.

  • It is not possible to manage an install that includes even one EP or SP by way of Origin and stay on Patch 1.67. There was a way to do that briefly when Patch 1.69 first came out in the fall of 2015, but EA closed the loophole fairly quickly.

There are only three ways to install and stay on Patch 1.67:
-- All discs, no exceptions, with the base game disc having been manufactured before Sept 2012 (the age of the EP/SP discs don't matter).
-- Steam installs will be on 1.67 only, there is no 1.69 for Steam. That requires repurchasing the game and all of your packs on the Steam platform.
-- Play the Mac version of the game. Origin for Mac only delivers 1.67 as there is no 1.69 for Mac. But that requires having a Mac to play on in the first place, and the Mac version is more crippled than its Windows sibling so it's not recommended for other reasons.
  • Thank you for answering, igazor. I was afraid of that. I'll either have to turn my house upside down and shake it to see if those two discs fall out, or repurchase them (making SURE they are DISCS! and not just a digital download code).
