Everyone welcome to post their Sims 3 art in this thread. :) I can't really draw my way out of a wet-paper bag...so I've seriously been thinking about getting started in drawing, maybe just stick figures and then work my way up from there. I need to go visit my local art supply store, get a set of drawing pencils...and a sketchpad.
  • I used to love sketching faces but haven't done so since my dad died more than 40 years ago. I believe I was good at it and anyone I sketched said I captured them well :) I could be kidding myself, but I think my repressed artistic ability sneaks out when I make sims based on real people.
  • Havent touched photoshop in years, so here it is lol

  • @Nikkei_Simmer Drawing is a wonderful hobby! I enjoy it very much myself :) It's not a zone-out kinda thing, on the contrary it really keeps your mind engaged, it makes you think about what lines you should place and where. It doesn't really matter what materials you choose to start, pencil and paper (and an eraser) will do. What matters is that you get the fundamentals (e.g. form, construction, light and shadow) down.

In fact, if you have a powerful motivator (e.g. really wanting to draw your Sims, or me really wanting to draw my favourite characters from other franchises), it takes most of the work out and makes it really fun! With every piece you do, you learn "on the job" as well, if you know what I mean.

As for me, I promised myself a long time ago that I would try and draw my Sims. I have reference images ready and everything. Hasn't happened, unfortunately. If only I could tear myself away from drawing Vocaloids (my other current obsession)...

@LittleSpaceFox, I've been thinking about learning to draw for a while now. Not only sims, but drawing and eventually painting based on my own photos.

    stuff like this.
But gotta start with the basics and work my way up from there. Eventually I want to get to the point where I'm picturing stuff in my head and being able to draw it from there...

Thought about getting some art pencils and try to see if I can learn and then progress to paints. I figure with being laid up with deteriorating discs and stuff; I might as well learn something new.
