Converting .sims Files

Hey there, @igazor, or anybody,

I was wondering if it is possible to convert .sim files into .sims3pack or .package files because my SavedSims aren't showing up in my game. This is because when I was cleaning up my computer...I accidentally permanently deleted my SavedSims folder. So when I attempted to recover that folder with a recovery software, all the files we're recovered...but also damaged...which is probably what I get for not making a backup.

I have opened up each .sim file with s3pe...and I'm guessing that UNKN means the .sim files are corrupt. But some .sim files have an error when they're opened in s3pe. Like, Expected magic tag 'DBPF'. Found '. I never knew what that meant...because it seems to be marked as an unknown file type.

Is there a way to fix UNKN binaries inside packages? Is there a recovery software that'll recover .sim or .package files without damaging them? Unless I'll have to start from scratch with my SavedSims and remember to keep backups.

The UNKN does not mean the sim file is corrupt. There are a lot of those if a sim has cc especially. Do any of the sim files open in S3PE or do they all throw an error?

While we're waiting for someone who knows better what they're doing to come along, have you tried changing the .sim file's name to .package and putting it in your mod's folder? So, for example, take Dina_Caliente.sim and change it to Dina_Caliente.package and put the package file in your mods folder. Then see if it shows up in your library. That's the first thing I would try. ETA: Tried it. It didn't work.
