Reason for Playing Sims 3

Hello everyone and blessed day!

I am here out of sheer curiosity. Since the latest debacle with the Sims 4, I had chosen to go back and dust off my Sims 3 games and learned of the various mods to help me resurrect this game, making it playable/compatible with the latest graphics cards, etc.

Now, I am curious to learn as to your reason of choosing Sims 3. How many of you have chosen the Sims 3 for any of the following various reasons:

  • Sims 4 had too many bugs and you decided to switch to Sims 3
  • Sims 4 is unplayable as it either crashed, won't start up, or won't recognize DLC Packs purchased when installing lots from the gallery/library in your game so you switched to Sims 3
  • Research on the Sims 4 was found to have too many problems and so you decided to stick with the Sims 3 and not purchase the Sims 4
  • Research on the Sims 4 was found to have too many problems and since you never purchased the Sims 3, you decided it was wiser to invest in Sims 3 instead

If any of you had chosen Sims 3 for any one or more of these reason, please feel free to share your choices here and please select the like feature of this post so I can get an idea/count as to how many have chosen the Sims 3 for these following reasons.

Thank you all for your honest feedback and participation.

  • I was a LATE joiner - Feb. 5, 2013!

The Sims 3 was my very first Sims game EVER!

What it was that made me start Simming -

I'd been watching my younger sister play Sims 1 and Sims 2 for years - looked like fun! Only thing is she had Console version of the games. I have a PC version of the Sims 3 game (and later on 4)... STILL FUN!

Funny, I didn't realize that I got Sims 3 BEFORE she did 😂!

  • None of the above.

    • I've owned Sims 3 since 2010 and never left.  I've spent some time in Sims 4 but have never loved it the way I do 3, so why switch?

For the record though, 4 runs fine for me.  I can break it if I want to, but it doesn't break on its own.

  • I chose to stick with Sims3 not just for the ways we can recolor an so much more to neighborhoods but because I spent so much money on every expansion  and sims3 store that I didn't  want to start over. I love sims3 an 4 is not as good

  • I have ayed sims since the year it come out starting with original Sims then 2 an 3. Tried 4 didn't like it. Spent so much getting all expansions  an stuff packs got them all but Katy perry stuff(dont like katy) so chose not to get that one. Didn't think changing to 4 when didn't care for it was worth it

  • I started with sims 1 and 2. When sims 3 released, I sticked to sims 2 because my pc couldn't handle sims3. Then took a looooong sims break due to IRL circumstances. When I returned, sims 3 and 4 were both available. I tried both but somehow sims 4 felt more familiar and I have enjoyed it for years.

However in the last few months, things changed. I don't enjoy the sims 4 that much anymore.

    • Every patch causes new issues to the point where I doubt that the game will ever get in a fixed state
    • The heavy focus on FOMO events causes me stress. I used to enjoy the game but events turn it into a chore
    • The heavy push to buy things with full screen adds, shopping carts, overpriced marketplace. It feels like this is getting worse and worse over time. This tactic makes sense for free games but not for games where people spend hundreds on DLC.
    • New DLC has started to recycle themes from older DLC (two apartment packs, two packs to own your store, two farm animal packs, two education packs). On top of that newer packs seem to come with less content
    • I recently played paralives. It was so relaxing. But that game isn't finished enough to be my only game. So I wanna go back to that other open world game, aka the sims 3

So today I checked out essential mods and default skin replacements to get started.
