Copying Unique Items ????

I'd like to copy some "Special" items from adventures. One notable is "The Book of the Three Relics." I'd like to keep a copy or two for my own private library. Other's could include, "The Chilldean Insanity Relic," "The Moonbelly Sphinx," "The Unlucky Relic of King Hoojib,". I've tried feeding the book to an Omni Plant. It 'cooked' for a couple/few days but was never harvested. The plant seemed to reset. Worse, when my Sims returned to Egypt, nobody arrived. I ended up restarting the game. I've also tried, putting the book on the floor, NRass > DebugEnabler > Options:Book > Object ... > Clone. Nothing happened. I don't eve know how that is supposed to work. Any idea how to copy these objects?
