Date issues

My Sim called his girlfriend for a date. She arrived and seems stuck outside the house gate. I unlocked the gate, tried to go somewhere with her, tried to end the date. She is stuck in one spot. I know how to use Nraas to reset a Sim that lives in the house but what do I do for a Sim who is visiting?

ETA: I figured it out. I right clicked the stuck Sim, and reset her. I didn't realize I could do that!

If you go into MOO and move the sim, you do run the risk of corrupting your game and causing issues that way. The best way is just resetSim and invite her over again...but this time, "unlock the gate" before you invite her over.
  • Perhaps to stop it from happening move the mailbox and/or whatever else is in that spot to an area with more clearance and routing. Sometimes if the mailbox is too close to the edge of the lot it or bushes, fencing etc, it will cause issues.

Thanks @Nikkei_Simmer! That's what I did. The "stuck" spot on this house seems to be to the left of the gate in front of the mailbox. After I reset the Sim, she was invited over and promptly married into the family. The next day, she was forced to go to her graduation (she had just become a young adult the day before I moved her in). So the entire family hopped in the car and went to the graduation. When they came back, she and her new husband got stuck in that same spot. I reset the entire household first and they were still stuck. So then I reset her and her new husband and all seems well after playing them for three Sim days. Hopefully that won't mess up my game.

That appears that you have what's known as an "invisible jig" in that spot which causes Sims to end up stuck in that spot. I'm not sure exactly how you would go about finding whatever it is that is causing the Sims to get stuck there, because for all I know it could be embedded in the ground several inches down which makes it darned near impossible to remove. The mailbox has always been a problem too if it's put too close to the edge of the lot. I know that the mailbox and the garbage can can be put 1/2 a section over the border of the lot but believe me, doing that causes a major problem when it comes to routing issues.

I noted @bekkasan has also mentioned that.
  • To remove stuck invisible jigs without having to guess how or where to click on them, if these are ever part of a problem...

    The MasterController way:
On the ground of the lot or its lot map tag, NRaas > MC > Object Stats > Non-Inventory and click on anything that has "jig" in the name to Flush (force delete). (MC Cheats module required)

    The other way:
Retreat to Edit Town, evict the entire household to the side of the screen, copy the uninhabited house down to the bin, bulldoze, replace with a copy, move everyone back in without having left the screen. More intrusive than the MC way, but jigs cannot survive this kind of reset.

Where this gets really tricky is when the jigs are on the world lot (not on any other residential or community lot officially) or seem to be in between. We can't bulldoze and reset the world lot, but with some fussing around MC can usually reach them eventually.

  • Alternatively you can use the moveobjects cheat, go into build mode and move the sim like any item if you don't want to reset them and send them back to their home lot. Edit: I haven't had this problem but this might cause issues with the game? I sure do hurt a lot trying to help here :D
