I tend to avoid foundations or friezes in most of my builds but sometimes I use them.

Hey all, just thought you may be interested to see my WIP more finished. I haven't really started yet on the inside, but the outside is basically done.

I've made foundation walk out basements before, and also with the ITF concrete slabs, but when I made it then, I put the pool down by the foundation area, and not back on base level.

It's also on a 50X40 size lot, an unconventional lot size. I really like this lot size. I will probably delete the stairs, but I like how it looks without the rails.

This person on MTS has done some awesome plant recolors, and I used them all throughout the lot (the daisies, daisy bush, and azaleas). I also requested the maple tree from Late Night to be recolored along with the boxwood. I feel so special, I'm the only one with the files right now (she PM'ed them to me).

Well, you can have a foundation basement without it being a walk out basement. You just level the terrain everywhere underground except right by the edge of the foundation. It's worth it if your house is somewhat big. If the house is on the smaller side, a foundation basement may not do much.

I did that with the pre-built house my sim in my current game is living in. But I'd prefer to not have the foundation. However, I won't say I never use foundations, and I am quite likely to have one in a house I build from scratch at some stage. I just usually prefer to not have them.

That house on the hill that I posted a picture of has a foundation - it is on stumps. That is the sort of foundation most houses have where I live as they are built to be cool. If the stumps are high enough it is possible to add a living area underneath. And In my opinion I don't need to use a foundation to get the same effect in a house I build in Sims 3.

I needed to use the foundation stumps for that particular house as it was on a hill and I wanted to keep the hill. If I have a flat lot I usually prefer to not have a foundation.

I can actually do foundations and friezes and things. I just prefer my houses to maximise the available space.

I build for fun. I rarely do anything modern. I don't worry about particular styles of building. And I know about them too but I just don't worry about them. Needless to say if I start building something I can be influenced by existing real life building styles.

I tend to make it up as I go along just because I want to do it that way.

I start small with a basic few rooms a Sim needs to survive and as I think of things I want to do with them I add rooms and other facilities. If I start out with a basement and a frieze I immediately have reduced my options for future development.

I always used to start with a 64x64 lot too and fill it up with stuff. Recently I've started challenging myself with smaller lots.

It is only when I'm making a community lot that I will just sit and build for weeks until I have it all working and looking just the way that I have most fun with it when I send my Sims there during a game.

It doesn't have a foundation - but it doesn't use up all available space either. It is fully furnished on one level and the top level is barely started inside. Then I lost interest in it and have it in a separate Sims 3 folder where there is no custom content installed. Just Store content and what came with the Sims 3 games.

I suspect I may get back to it one day. But I don't know when.

@Karritz: oh my goodness, that's awesome! And of course it wouldn't have a foundation--it's a spaceship, after all! :D

It is definitely bizarre. I had a mushroom in mind when I started building it. I do agree it looks more like a spaceship though.

She makes the most amazing fantasy custom content and I'm getting all excited about making something with it.

I am in awe of all of the people here who can make heads or tails from creators who are of a different language. I get so confused trying to figure out what to click on that I end up closing the window. :|

@Mondnacht22 I got all of my luna stuff from mega. Her site has been down for years. I don't know what stairs you are talking about. I've got several GB of her things and it'd take me a long time to find the specific file. I have no idea of what most of it is as there is so much of it. And I don't speak or read or understand the language she uses.

And you are not allowed to put your email address in a forum post.

If I come across her stairs I'll send you a message.
