So I decided to create a long lost brother for a teen sim I had in a group home. This long lost older brother tracked him down and took him home to his small, sparse abode so he could take care of him. They got split up when their parents died. Ronnie, (the older brother) took off from the foster home he was sent to and went out to find his own way while Randy, the younger one, ended up going from foster parent to foster parent until he ended up in the group home for teens. I've been watching them interact and I don't know if it's a trick of the eye, or what, but Randy the teen looks taller and bigger than his YA older brother! He really does look bigger! But, it's probably because he's bulkier than his brother and has more/different hair, rather than actually having a taller skeleton.

That looks like alpha hair, which is notorious for sitting quite a bit above the actual head.

It's not because of the hair, compare the relative height of each boy's nose/chin. Randy's eye line meets Ronnie's eyebrow straight across. BUT I think it's just that Randy is standing straight. If Ronnie is instigating a hug, then his legs are bending as he steps forward, making him appear shorter.

Maybe Randy is wearing taller shoes? A lot of the time my female sims are taller than my male sims because of them wearing heels, so shoes can change a sim's height.

Slouching sims often appear taller than sims with a straight spine. Interesting to play with.

As @happyopi pointed out, it's the posture. You can affect posture in CAS with a subtle vertical arrow over the person's upper back. Easiest to find when you have them in profile(from the side). Can go from chest out to reserved, or from healthy to scoliosis. It can really make a difference with a sim.

Addendum: Also, those two look like they are straight out of a young adult book of the 60's/70's, such as Hardy Boys. I honestly like it.

@afai1261 Yes! I noticed that too with the difference of the height of the nose/chin etc. Randy is certainly a bit "chunkier" than Ronnie, and that adds to the illusion, but he certainly looks taller! I took one more as straight across as I could and even the shoulder height looks different and the camera cuts off more of Randy's head than Ronnie's.

The young adult should be slightly taller than the teen.

I think its the cc hair that makes him look taller. Plus the older brother looks like he's leaning slightly forward in both the first picture and the one you just posted as well.
