Tell you what: I've always been interested in a person's backstory of their childhood, young adulthood, etc. Where were they from? Their traits as a child? etc. Tell me!

Ah, this is probably why I should start a blog so I can put things there, and to make for a better organization of contents then what I could do with posting things on this forum.

The first two sims I made for the sims 3 are Lucie and Asgeir. When I first made them, though, they didn't have a backstory because I was still relatively new to playing a "The Sims" game, so I wasn't really thinking about the story telling aspect of it. It took me a while to get the feeling that I was actually telling a story and even longer for their backstory to come about. ;)
* Pamtere is just switching around the letters of the Finnish town of Tampere, and as you may notice, there are some Finnish names in here. :P
The small community of Pamtere is located far to the north on the western shores of Simbria. Here it lies, relatively isolated and surrounded by tall mountains, with meltwater from the Moonlight glacier flowing through town in the Blackwater River... And perhaps it is due to Pamteres remote and isolated location in combination with its long, dark and cold winters that have given the population an increased belief in the supernatural, compared to people from the rest of the country...

In a small wooden house in this town lives a struggling family of four. Bjarne Karlsen (age: 30), the father of the family, works on a cargo ship transporting goods across the Westphalian Sea, which meant that he would be away for months at a time, leaving the mother, Gunvor Karlsen, alone to care for their two children, Magne and Frank.

Gunvor Karlsen (age: 28) taking the youngest son, Frank (2 years, 1 month) out for a stroll. In between caring for the children, Gunvor did her best to make a living from selling her paintings. Being stuck in this town on what appeared to her as "the edge of the world" she would often escape her mundane life by travelling to the far away places she found in the writings of others.. so when she wasn't at home, or out doing the necessary shopping, she was usually found in a quiet corner of the library, nose down in a book...

In this small town, there lived another family of three. This was the Lehtoranta family, Tahvo, Kerttu and their son Jaska. Jaska was about the same age as Frank, and they would sometimes play together whenever their parents brought them to the library.
https://i.imgur.com/7h37YTM.jpg Frank and Jaska at the library.
https://i.imgur.com/DCTcoaQ.jpg Tahvo Lehtoranta (age 26) was an ambitious man with a strong work ethic. His job was at the local business office, where he would often work overtime. He was very dedicated to his job and had hopes that one day, he would rise to the top and take over the entire business.
https://i.imgur.com/opPkw2O.jpg His wife, Kerttu Lehtoranta (age: 21), was equally ambitious and hard working, but her main interest for the time being was gardening. She had a dream that one day, she would have the most perfect garden in the entire country, so she would often spend long hours in her little greenhouse tending to the plants or at the library studying the books from the gardening section.

The Lehtoranta family home. Kerttus' greenhouse was very small now, money was scarce, so this was all the young family could afford to build for the time being, but she had dreams of a much larger one, eventually.

The cold spring in Pamtere transitioned into a cool summer, and one day in June Gunvor Karlsen gave birth to a little boy. The couple had already agreed on a name, and so he was given the name Asgeir.
https://i.imgur.com/3A8Mvla.jpg The newborn Asgeir Karlsen in his crib. June 1952.
https://i.imgur.com/H9QSLZP.jpg Summer passed and Bjarne had just arrived home on leave from his job at the cargo ship. It was september, and temperatures were already dropping, and it probably wasn't long until the first snow would lay its white blanket over the town.
https://i.imgur.com/hqTzkiR.jpg The arrival of autumn also meant it was time for Kerttu to reap the benefits of her work. She got a pretty good price for her harvest at the local grocery store, as fruit and vegetables were already pretty expensive in this small town, due to high costs of transport. Due to the short growing season, there weren't to many farmers in this region, so all crops and fruit had to be brought in from the warmer parts of the country.
https://i.imgur.com/gobILYX.jpg Kerttu and Tahvo had high ambitions not only for themselves, but also their child, Jaska, so they would often sit down with him to practice the proper pronounciation of words, as well as continuosly expanding his vocabulary.
https://i.imgur.com/yCCTZ0p.jpg Because Tahvo was often exhausted from work, it was usually Kerttu that took the responsibility to teach Jaska the necessary skills.
https://i.imgur.com/4gSmgEz.jpg Winters in Pamtere are long and cold, but that didn't stop Kerttu from taking her son Jaska out for a stroll.
https://i.imgur.com/BP8O3fO.jpg Spring eventually came to the small town, and with Bjarne away working on the cargo ships, Gunvor was left alone to care for their three children. Magne, the oldest son of the Karlsen household, missed his father when he was out, and would often get in trouble at home from skipping school.
https://i.imgur.com/MBhnEMb.jpg Luckily when summer came around, Bjarne was home to celebrate his youngest son, Asgeirs first birthday on this otherwise rainy day in june.
https://i.imgur.com/GtIVEQ1.jpg Whenever he was home from his work travels, Bjarne made sure to spend as much time as possible with his son. Here he is giving the newly aged up Asgeir a tickle.

That's as far as I have gotten on it. I should work more on this one and finish it one day....
@Sprottenham, I’ve generally found Blogger easy to work with though with having a new computer, I’ll try and see if I can work with Wordpress a bit after I research it a bit more.
I generally work with what Blogger offers to organize my games so that I can make it easily navigable. That’s the main thing. You might want several different blogs; one for each story branching off your main blog. And keep your main blog as the navigation hub.
@Nikkei_Simmer Thanks for the last input there about having one main blog that links to several different blogs. I'll look into and try the Blogger first, experiment a little and (try to) figure out how to organize things. :P

I don't always but I do tend to have a premade backstory for my sims before I start playing. In the current save I started most recently, the 'heir' who is the main sim I plan on following is a teen who I lives with her grandparents after her parents died. even though as soon as I started the game I killed off her parents I have an idea of who they were before the game started and how the 'heir' got to be living with her grandparents.
@jillbg Wow! I love the dedication. I'll have to give that a read when I've got some more time.
I use Plum Tree App to profile all of my townie legacies. I write their bios according to how they act in game when I meet them and the game's mechanics and embellish where I feel creative enough to do so. For example, in Sims 4 I said Summer Holiday was going through diet restriction and exercise addiction and it was only after Mortimer Goth helped her to hospital (she fainted, he woke her up, and I sent her to hospital) that she went through a rehabilitation program and went on to be a baker in my game.
I like writing backstories for my story characters. They're usually included in some form on my Simlits. The Adora in my story is like the Adora on both versions of the She-Ra show. She grew up in the enemy army, thinking that she was on the right side, until she discovered the truth and learned of her true destiny. Also, about Glimmer's backstory - her father was missing ever since she was young, causing Queen Angella to be overprotective of her.
