EA you are violating your own terms
If you have not updated your game past 1.67 don't buy anymore stuff packs or sets for Sims 3. EA is forcing update if you do. I bought 2 stuff packs and was not able to install them unless I updated...

If you move up to Patch 1.69, you can play by logging into Origin in offline mode and you can install the game and its packs through Origin on 25 or however many computers you want, all under the same account. That is, provided you own those 25 computers and only one of them is Internet connected and running the game at a time.
I'm glad that System Restore worked for you. But unless everyone has a system through which entire drives are mirrored and backed up, all System Restore will do for many players is restore operating system files, not games, which will quite possibly lead to a broken game install. It's not really the recommended way to proceed with a downgrade.

you're entitled to your opinion but I dont' agree with it.
As far as the game, it says 1.67 on the launcher. I had just created a system restore point late last night and I didn't play
it inbetween then. I installed a few things & I checked in downloads & the launcher, it shows those things as installed.
I will see what's really what when I play the game.
As far as EA being tyrannical, there really is no reason for Origin. The EA installer was working just fine.
Then the launcher had problems and Origin came on scene but the launcher is still clunky so what exactly
is Origin for except to keep logs of computer activity & to assist EA in being able to put all the games on their server
for their convenience. It's stupid to require people to sign in to play a game unless you want to keep tabs on them.
edit: the game loaded fine right up to main menu, all my Sims are there
