EA you are violating your own terms
If you have not updated your game past 1.67 don't buy anymore stuff packs or sets for Sims 3. EA is forcing update if you do. I bought 2 stuff packs and was not able to install them unless I updated...

You can choose to play offline. You do have to use your origin username and password, but you don't have to be online to do it. I can't speak for everyone, but I've never had a problem playing offline myself. :)
but once you sign in they know where you are (cue in spooky music)
and now you are accountable to them for your time (cue in spookier music)
and they are keeping track of how long you stay online (cue in even spookier music)
