EA you are violating your own terms
If you have not updated your game past 1.67 don't buy anymore stuff packs or sets for Sims 3. EA is forcing update if you do. I bought 2 stuff packs and was not able to install them unless I updated...

@igazor Thanks, yes, I think a lot of it would bother me as well. As such I could live with it honestly (in fact I have used the launcher all those years to start the game because I didn't know there was a way around that), but I don't see advantages for myself (I don't want to disable anything, never, and I don't want to chat with anyone when I play or whatever that online thing is for). The steps you took prior to installing could be handy to follow for anyone who will have to download the patch in the future.
