EA you are violating your own terms
If you have not updated your game past 1.67 don't buy anymore stuff packs or sets for Sims 3. EA is forcing update if you do. I bought 2 stuff packs and was not able to install them unless I updated...

then that's why origin will not allow you to install just the disc without them because the version of the game you have is tied into using Origin digitally to the 1.69 patch to set up a disc version of the game you need a pre 2012 version of the game which is shown in the picture above and while you cannot buy them new anymore a good quality disc with a keycode can still be purchased via Ebay (that's where I got mine and it works fine) then I just bought all the other expansion packs on discs and installed them then used the super-patched to patch to 1.67 and my game is now working fine after a few initial hiccups that are now resolved..
yes I know, figured it out :) maybe I'll get one of those from Ebay or maybe do something else thinking....
Really wish EA didn't own the monopoly on life simulation games, we need at least one other company willing to compete with EA on this.
If they come out with TS5 and destroy it like TS4, I'll have to find something else to use up all my time B)
added: EA got rich off me, I bought both discs and Origin downloads in TS3, that's how much I love this game, but
nothing lasts forever :'(
