That happened to my sim once, and it really made me quite angry, not sure why but it did. Anyways, I decided to get my sim's money back from whom ever. That sim happened to be a witch who knew how to cast fire. So I set a smoke detector outside the house, and proceeded to have her catch her own yard on fire. It ended up being so large that it took every single firefighter in Bridgeport to put it out. After it was all over and done, my sim ended up with something like 48,000 semolians for fire damage from the insurance company. The funny part was nothing was damaged, so it was all profit. Lets just say that shortly after that my sim finally got her witches lair added on to her home. >:)
