Have a question about the frame rate at the sims 3

Hello, I heard many times it's not good to have higher frame rate than 60 frame rates at the sims 3 and I actually don't know why it's not good and what happens if I have 120 frame rates while playing the sims 3? I searched on web and saw higher frame rates makes the game smooth well. I appreciate all helpings and replies. Thank you. :)
  • There was weird sound coming from my gpu so i checked afterburner and the frame rate was 3000 o.0

Yep. I already capped it on to 59 ;) (my monitor fps is 59) thanks for the concern though! Btw, do you have any idea on the optimized game setting for 1060gtx super, i5 9400f, 16 ram? i havent played it yet(planning to play on the next weekend! :) i finally bought a new computer lol) but i am already too scared to play it especially on high setting lol!
  • I checked the rate when playing and it's around 100-150, and my monitor Hz is 60. How can i cape it accordingly? I have an AMD Radeon graphic card btw, I tried looking around but only found outdated solutions.
  • @Nikkei_Simmer I'm sure you know that a 5700XT is massive overkill for TS3; even the older RX 570 or 580 would be more than enough. If you want new tech, an Nvidia 1650 would be plenty, and a 1660 more power than the game could ever use. With the new 1660 Super out now, the regular 1660 might be discounted as well. And although it doesn't matter for TS3, the 16-series Nvidia cards are significantly faster than the comparable 10-series models for heavy photo and video editing.

Also, I'm not sure how much it matters to you, but AMD driver support these days is... less than impressive. Nvidia might be more expensive, but there's a benefit to the price premium.
  • No worries @igazor !

I tested in-game today and it did lower the rate but it still goes in the 100 sometimes. I'll try out the 2nd trick and let you guys know!

@ingridmf That’s awesome. When I was able to play I was operating off an integrated chip so couldn't control fps off that

When I do get back to playing I’ll hopefully be running off a better computer with a good CPU and a dedicated graphics card.
