Horizontal line on screen?

Yesterday I got my new laptop (a Dell G5) and installed the Sims 3 on it. However, when I'm playing there's a horizontal line about 2/3 down the screen (maybe that's what you call screen tearing, I'm not sure). I turned vsync on, deleted all my mods, started a fresh save with only the base game and I think I also got it to recognise my card, but I'm not sure if I should add the "with Max-Q design" part (I didn't).

dxdiag, if necessary:

Thanks in advance. :)

@SimplyJen I tried Windowed Borderless a few days ago. It worked perfectly, but the resolution was still a problem. Reading the text at 1080p is a serious strain on my eyes and if I put it to a lower resolution the window itself is smaller too, which I'd also like to avoid.
That's a bummer and I really wish there was a way to alter the UI scale with Sims 3 but I haven't found a way.

  • @SimplyJen I thought I heard about a larger UI mod somewhere once, but I guess that must have been for TS4. :/ Anyway, I'm planning to get an external monitor and keyboard to make work easier once I save up enough money for that so worst case scenario is I won't be able to play until then.

Sims 4 UI can be altered within the options file but Sims 3 doesn't have that in the options file nor has there been a mod. I wonder if it would be possible to mod.
