how do you get the axe in china

I'm playing Sims 3 world adventures and can't figure out how to get the axe in China. Can someone please help me?

@bev6usa First, your sim needs to reach at least visa level 2. One of the adventures available will be Confounded Boulder, which is a chain that eventually takes the sim to the Temple of Heaven, with a key so they can explore the larger of the two tombs on the lot. The axe is deep within the tomb.

I would suggest having your sim get a full night's sleep in a tent on the Temple of Heaven lot before starting the adventure, as it takes about 18 hours to clear everything in that tomb even if you know exactly what you're doing. That's just enough to get your sim back topside without them being too fatigued to do any more tasks. Or you can have them bring a sleeping bag to sleep inside the tomb.

Are there mummies in that tomb? If there are can they be avoided?

@bev6usa There are no mummies, and nothing particularly dangerous. There are some floor and wall traps, so hover your cursor over the area before sending your sim running in. None of them are a danger as long as you're careful. If you want more specifics:

After your sim picks up the axe, this will open another staircase, with an additional area you can explore. It will also activate a few traps in areas your sim has already passed through, specifically the locations with gold arrows on them. So make sure to disarm those after collecting the axe.

There is also a part of the tomb that is no longer routable after the Pets patch; you'll only be able to access it after collecting the axe and using it on a boulder. Since this was not intended to be part of the challenge in the first place, I personally think it's more than fair to edit the tomb to widen the passageway a little. Click ctrl-shift-C and enter testingcheatsenabled true , then shift-click the ground and select Build on This Lot, and you can remove the walls and draw them one square farther away. Or with this cheat enabled, you can shift-click the ground and select Teleport Me Here to get your sim past the narrow passageway and then back again.
