How is this even possible?

My sim Angela is a singer, and her husband is a police officer. A gnome appeared in Angela's garden, and when I first saw it, partially hidden by the garden plants, I thought it was the singer gnome. But it didn't look right, so I clicked on it and found out it's the magician gnome. According to the wiki, magician gnomes will only appear of one of the household members is a magician or a witch. My sims are neither of those things. This is the first time I've ever had a gnome appear when none of the factors that are supposed to trigger it are present.

He looks like a cabaret singer and should be lying on top of a white grand piano somewhere singing "Night and Day"! :D

Except he's a magician, not a singer. But maybe he can sing too, if he ever decides to make a sound.

The funny thing is, my household now had 3 magician gnomes and 5 singer gnomes. So there must be something unique about this household that triggers the magician gnome's appearance, that none of my other households have ever had. I have no clue what it could be.
  • Actually, there is one thing that is different with this household. My singer's husband is rebellious and has a motorcycle. But it's hard to see how that could have anything to do with magician gnomes.

It's a bug. Those two will keep magically appearing. There's no telling what the trigger is. I think most people only had one or two households that this would happen on, but the households never had anyone in those careers.
  • Well I'll be. I had no idea there were anything but regular ol' annoying garden gnomes (I have 5 now that drive me nuts). One of my sims got one in the mail the other day as an award for something. It's got sunglasses on and a duck on it's shirt. I was kinda surprised by that. But it sounds like I'll have all kinds of them in my future since I have all EPs and I make sure all my sims have different careers. Just got the first magician in the family. Now if I could just create a little gnome house and make them all stay inside...
  • About gnomes aging, several of them age but only Mysterious Mr Gnome changes his appearance as he ages. Ive been known to set my gnomes back to toddler when they get close to dying from old age.

I don't remember the full list of the gnomes that age. Two that I do know that do age are the Mech gnome from into the Future and the Gnome of the Darned.

The graduation gnome will also age and die. How do you set your gnomes back to toddler?

Thanks for the info on the graduation gnome. I just got my first graduation gnomes ever in my Caroline and Friends save.

They way to set their age is to turn on testing cheats, then hold the shift key and click the gnome. If you only get an Object menu, then that one doesn't age; but if you get Object and Set Age menus then click on Set Age and you'll get a choice of each age stage and choose toddler if that's the one you want.
