How many people use Windows 10?

Hello
I was just wondering how many of you now use W10 with Sims 3?
Not sure if this is the correct forum, as its not a tech query more a general query. I still use Windows 7, but now have a W10 laptop which could easily run Sims 4 - but I would prefer to keep Sims 3! Hence the query.

  • Me and i hate it! I find it so difficult to navigate and find anything and it tests my patience every time!

Gaming wise it's fine though so i suppose that's something eh! :D

I do since I got a new PC in September, and Sims 3 runs fine. I'm on 1.67 and installed the game from discs. I would have continued using Windows 7 if it wasn't for the new hardware that prefers Windows 10, plus that support for Windows 7 was going to end (It ends today, January 14th).

I just hope that Microsoft doesn't come up with an update that breaks the game. That's one of the worst things with Windows 10, that you are forced to install the updates. It can be delayed now, though, so hopefully things that break the game would be discovered and corrected before I install them. *crosses fingers and toes*
  • Thanks everyone. I did install in the end and it worked fine. One problem - the FPS limiter does not work, so it was running at crazy speeds, as it is a laptop it started to really heat up. Apart from that its fine. However as this is w7 end day - I will need to buy a new PC. But thanks for the views.

  • I made myself upgrade to 10 maybe 2 years ago. I had this PC built nearly 5 years ago and had Windows 7 put on it. Then as time went on , I read that eventually Windows 7 would cease to be so I made the decision to finally make the switch. I haven't had any problems running TS3 but I do have issues with TS1 and had issues with TSM. I still use the disc version of TS3 with the launcher. I never did patch to the final version.
  • When I do get around to building the system I want. Picture a middle-aged Asian guy on the border of 50-51 swearing over a gaming PC trying to figure out where pieces fit and then trying to install an OS (Windows 10 Professional 32/64 bit. Oh I’m gonna have sooo much fun. ??

Ah yes, the whimsical fantasies of you younger folks. :)

Unless one really does enjoy such a challenge, it has to be said that for the rest of us many of these things are really much better off left to the experts. That's why services such as iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC (there are others) allow you to select the components you want, they do the build for you, then slap a warranty on it before shipping it out.
  • Well, I’m always up for a challenge and maybe learn some new skills in the end. My younger son is good with computers and he might be able to give ol’Dad a hand with some instruction about where to install what.
  • Installing Windows 10 and the various necessary drivers is easy, easier than setting up TS3 is sometimes, and definitely simpler than installing the game via disc. The last time I did it, I didn't curse Microsoft even once. (It was a very strange feeling, to be completely honest.)

    Where's the fun in that?
  • I'm actually still playing on my Windows 7 desktop since my one laptop with Windows 10 on it can't handle what my desktop apparently can.
