How to get started with the supernatural pack?

Hey guys I just got my third expansion pack which is Supernatural! I was wondering if anybody has any tips or little quests on how to get started with making my sims supernatural. I know witches, fairies and all that can be created via CAS but I'm also wondering if it's possible to get any of my normal sims to learn spells or practice something? I know that to become a witch you have to buy this Bottled Witches Brew but I haven't seen it in the store yet. Vampires I know as well as they are in my LN pack. But yeah, I'm so used to the Sims 2 version of things when it comes to supernatural, there you just befriended a couple of witches and boom you were a witch! Lol.

Also Moonlight Falls? What do you guys think of it and what are your experiences with it? Haven't played it yet but I will soon. Hope it isn't as laggy or useless as Bridgeport.

Thanks! xo
  • Moonlight Falls is one of the better EA worlds (IMO). Not laggy like Bridgeport, lots of room to grow (also unlike Bridgeport).

Elixirs to make sims into supernaturals should eventually show up at the Elixir Consignment Shop. Check daily. Or, any sim can learn the Alchemy skill (purchase the alchemy bench in Hobbies & Skills) and create the elixir themselves to drink or consign the elixirs for money. A list of elixirs and ingredients is here, if you are interested. I usually buy the harvestable ingredients and start growing them right away and work on collecting bugs, fish, metals, and gems as my sims learns the skill. I often have one sim in the household learn the alchemy skill just for the Invigorating and Potent Invigorating elixirs, especially if there are any sims going off to university or tomb exploring in WA worlds.

I've heard there is an opportunity a sim can get to become a fairy, but I've never had it come up for me. To become a werewolf I think a sim can befriend an existing one and eventually be offered to be turned. But for witches (AFAIK) the transformation takes an elixir (or a mod).

Normal sims cannot learn spells or magic outside of using a few items from the Store. Fairies, witches, and werewolves will increase their hidden occult skills by using them, but the sim has to be an occult first. I don't recall if there's a hidden vampire skill.
  • Lucky you :) This is one of my favourite packs and I am still finding things out about it. It has such a lot to keep you entertained. The best way of converting a normal sim into a supernatural is to look for a potion. I am reasonably sure there is one for both vampire and werewolf. Your sim can also ask an existing werewolf to turn him by biting him. I have done this once and it is rather creepy. I believe there is a similar thing for vampires but they are not my favourite supernatural and I have never gone out of my way to create one in game.

Each supernatural has some pretty awesome skills so it is worth taking each one in turn to find out the kind of things they can do. One thing you will have to deal with now you have Supernatural installed is the zombies. Each full moon they will appear. They are unlikely to attack your supernaturals but will attack other sims who are silly enough to be outside at a full moon. If you have sims who garden they will need to protect the gardens from zombies because the little blighters will decimate it pretty quickly. The simplest thing is to use fences and lock the gate to everyone but the household. One word of warning zombies can spawn within the protected area so you may need to rethink this strategy. Another alternative is to use the greenhouse from the Store.

Moonlight Falls seems to work relatively well. With Supernatural installed your sims can teletransport and your witches when suitably skilled can ride vacuum cleaners. The world is not as attractive as some but the architecture is lovely (IMO) and you get specific lots for each supernatural type. The fairy garden is definitely worth checking out and the broomstick arena where witches can practice flying and do stunts for tips is great fun.

I like using the badges available in your MyPage on the old Sims3 site as a guide. It'll set you on some journeys of discovery. Some of my videos are based around the badges available. And as a bonus, you get extra goodies to add to your game for the first few badges you manage to complete successfully. But you have to be logged into the site to get the badges awarded.

Apart from that, I'd buy an Alister's Alchemy Station and start your sims looking for ingredients. They can study alchemy by clicking on the station, and can start making elixirs with it if they have the knowledge and ingredients. There are two of them in this picture - there is a witch in the background working on the station, and a human sim in the middle of the picture holding up an elixir she's just made.

Another thing, unless you've got the various occult types turned off in Options, and by default they are turned on, your townie sims will be turned into occults by the game. I always have them turned off as I like to control who becomes an occult. But Moonlight Falls comes with a few occult households so you will have them there anyway. I have a lot of fun with my Supernaturals and hope you will too.

EDIT: In my signature there are pictures of some of my various video series. The McFluff story is all about a witch and her 15 cats.

The Isla Paradiso Bunch has genies as well as a witch and mermaids. Genies come with Supernatural. Mermaids with Island Paradise. The picture I posted above is from 'The Isla Paradiso Bunch' videos.
