Thanks all. I've had a set of sims saved from ages ago and I thought they looked great, but I stopped playing for a while and got a new computer and ended up cleaning out a lot of my mods. So those same sims now look terrible and every time I try to make new sims, they still look terrible. I think it's the shadows or lighting that is throwing it off. There's no definition.
@Mstybl95 How much definition do you want? Some people use HQ mods, although I don't need them for playing so have never bothered but I guess it would be handy for those who like to model their sims. I often place an extra light or two when I want to take pics of my sims.

I think I figured it out. I took pics in game and looked at them after and the Sims look like I expect them to look. So I went in and fiddles with my graphics card settings to see if the issue was there, but no luck. But...I pulled up the GeForce overlay and I created a setting for high details and it brought back the shading that seemed to be missing in game, but not the pics. Weird.
Also...love your sim. Yours was one of the ones I was like...I want my Sims to look like that!
