Imaginary Friend Glitch?

I think you probably need to take the doll from your sim's inventory and put it on the floor and when it comes live you will get the option to make it real. If you have the mod, Debug Enabler, you will be able to force it to become live. I find that's a great way to get rid of the doll and I move them out of the house once they are made real.


Before the IF is made real it lives in one of the homeless households but it can visit the house and appear visible to you when its owner is active.

Imaginary Friends have two forms. Doll form and human form. Once you have control of them you can click on them and get them to change form. This is available to you even after they have become real. Before they become real they don't belong to your household so you wouldn't be able to tell them what to do. But once made real it will join your household and you can move it out to live on its own somewhere in town.

In my video series '30 Grandchildren Badge' I had a town that was almost totally empty apart from my active family and about 6 other sims I'd randomly added from my library. But I had 15 children in the active household. Each child had an imaginary friend and I got the idea to make the imaginary friends real and move them out. This has worked well for this game as the town is much more active now. I am also having fun with them because when they become real I'm taking them into CAS and giving them a major makeover.

As you can see I am having fun with them. Added bonus is my town is much more lively and each owner gets a high logic skill from making the potions at the chemistry table.

Thanks for the info. It sure looks like you made a lot of them real in your game. Did you change most of their names either before or after you made them real or not? I noticed that the names given to them by the game is usually kind of weird ones like Jelly Bean. I haven't bothered to change any of their names but if I were to make some of them real I probably would. I haven't had my Sims work at that Chemistry table enough yet to make one of that potion to make the Imaginary Friends real. I also get an opportunity that pops up all the time to find a rainbow gem and give it to the science building so that they can make it into a potion that you can use to make the Imaginary Friends real but I don't even know where to look to find those so I always decline that opportunity. Most of the time I let them stay out from the time the Sims are a child to some of the Young Adult stage and then once I move them out of the parent Sims house it just ends up sitting in their inventory the rest of their Sim life. Maybe eventually I will have them work at the chemistry table enough to make the Imaginary Friend potion and try make one of them real. This particular one that came in looking like a real Sim except for the light bulb on it's head and walking like the Imaginary Friends do hung around all that day and then it disappeared after my Sim went to bed and hasn't come back like that so far.
