Is Showtime worth it at all?
In all honesty I’m not super eager to get it, but I do want to look into more custom worlds and most require Showtime to run. So is the expansion fun at all or should I stick to the custom worlds that...

@SimplyJen buying Expansions from eBay or any unauthorised reseller can very likely mean the purchaser will have the game blocked by EA. A huge number of people have recently lost their expansions purchased from places like eBay because EA never got paid for the codes in the first place so EA has been checking the codes and preventing people from using them. If a code is blocked like this it seems you can't just go out and buy a valid code because you already have the slot for that expansion used in your account but it is blocked. This means a lengthy chat with customer support who will hopefully release the slot.or you can grab a cheap physical copy through eBay or Amazon.
Physical copy meaning not digital.
Are you certain it ONLY applies to digital copies?
When buying physical game copies through Amazon or eBay I look for good seller feedback/reputation and clear photos of the product. I don't normally buy used unless I can confirm 100% the booklet with serial code is included. It's not impossible that someone could craft such a perfect fake physical copy but that's a lot of effort and most people would catch on if they've ever purchased a physical game copy before. Resealing would be easy but the book would be hard to look legit.
I was under the impression that the items being blocked were simply not paid for when bulk orders were purchased. I have no idea how that might have happened.
I did buy a sealed copy of a disk from Amazon before all of this issue occurred and people were finding their games were no longer available to them on Origin. Fortunately is was just a disk to replace my digital copy I had already bought from Origin. And I am also fortunate in that I have an old base game so I don't need to have Origin on my computer to play the game. But people who do have to use Origin to get into their game will be caught if there is any issue with the code regardless of how it was purchased or if it is digital or disk.
