Finishing off the adult issues....
Thornton and Edward had a nice long overdue chat...
Edward told Thornton all about his history with and renewed love for Elizabeth..
Thornton agreed that love was grand, but why did he marry mother if he never loved her? Edward Explained that his father Edward Jr. was a horribly controlling man and when he heard Elizabeth was pregnant his first thought was to get rid of her as she was just trying to trap his son into marriage. He told Thornton of the miscarriage and his sadness at losing his child even though he probably would never had seen him or her.
Thornton was understandably mad at his father because he had pretty much repeated history by making him leave Erika and threatening for years with being written out of the will. Thornton knew he could have said no to his father and run away with Erika and little Kate, but he had been rich for too long and he was very young and naive. These thoughts felt like a dagger through his heart.....
After Thornton composed himself he and his father discussed the future...
Edward gave a sincere apology for how he treated Thornton in the past. Thornton asked if he could get out of the marriage as he despised Morgana.
Edward told him he could get divorced from Morgana and marry whomever he wished. Edward told him he would be in his will and not threatened with being written out ever again. Thornton felt a big weight lift off his shoulders, he didn't care about the money, he just wanted to win back Erika and his daughter. He felt an overpowering urge to hug his dad....
............Later that night..............
Morgana had been spying on the whole conversation between Edward and Thornton (I really need to install a door for the office!), she would try to plead to remain married to Thornton because she was deeply in love with..............................................his money!
Too bad for her Edward could see through her line of cow manure....
He told her the only way he would have maybe made Thornton remain married to her is if they had had children....
...............the gears started turning over in her evil brain....
.............The Next Day................
Thornton drove over to Erika's house....and sat in the car for a good 15 minutes, fighting with thoughts of rejection.
He finally forced himself out of the car and rang the bell his heart thumping wildly in the chest.
Nobody was home! He went home crushed....where was Erika, where was Kate? He was starting to turn into a bundle of fear and negative thoughts....and plowing through all the tissue in the house!
**Erika had returned home about 5 minutes later from a trip to the library.
He went for a walk later that night and ran into Kate, they fell into conversation quickly...
He vowed to take a cooking class and learn how to make Kate's favorite cookies as a surprise for her. He would ask Bunter for pointers, he was a great cook.
After about an hour Kate said she should get home and gave Thornton a big hug, He could have sworn he heard her whisper "I wish you were my dad" into his ear.
