I love this thread :D It's great to see all the ideas!
DocSprock- that is cool about SLC names. Makes a lot of sense, even if removes a lot of charm from the city.
I decided to do desert names for Rattlesnake Ridge.
Kalahari
Namib
Owami
Sahara
Akshi
Gobi
Ordos
Taklamakan
Tahami
Accona
Olesky
Tabernas
Wahiba Sands
Mojave
Sonoran
Atacama
La Guajira
Sechura
Monte
Colorado
Ramlat
Piscinas
Rangipo
Kyzyl Kum
Kara Kum
And those are just the ones I found interesting. Here is an entire list of all the world's deserts...

You could also do fish species - I've seen that in some towns built up because of proximity to a lake - Bass Avenue, Waleye Way, Guppy Street.
If you have a tropical paradise, look up what birds and reptiles might be there. Sea Turtle Grange would be a cool one :)
Have something up in the mountains - mountain range names. There's tons of those. Something that is a city - then why not chose city names.

New York Strip
Las Vegas Parkway
San Diego Drive
Rocks would be an interesting thing to name streets after -
Gold Dust Circle
Granite Ridge Road
Feldespar Terrace
