Yeah...as a guy, I have absolutely NO freakin' clue as to what I'm doing in the cosmetics department when it comes to creating female sims. My response in real life when I have to follow @Featherbelle into the makeup section of the department store when I go "shopping" with her ends up resulting in a facial expression that looks like THIS: https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pAG0GMdL1Ig/W5gglG9WjiI/AAAAAAAAX14/a30gpohGXMg-e7vCjjqgHlHQWzKbaXeuQCLcBGAs/s1600/Tosh_horrifiedexpression.jpg So...what Sims 3 blush, eyeliner and lipstick do you gravitate to when you create sims.
I don't use a lot of cc makeup. I do use some stuff from MTS. I like more natural or "feature enhancing" makeup. Some of the Maxis stuff isn't too bad if you lower the saturation slider. MTS stuff I have used:
Mmmh, well, if I'm going for something more Maxis Match, apart from using what the game already has to offer, I love (and always use) either this two eyeliners from Nilou: Arabella Eyeliner or Simple Eyeliner combined with Natural Male Eyeliner by Susan372, it's for males only but since I converted the file to .package I also made it available for females  This ones by M1ssduo are also pretty good in my opinion (I use mostly the number 01 from the set). As for lips my to go is Simple Lipstain by Kitt And for blushes, I use mostly the ones from Simple Life  This are more or less the results I get
If I want something more glam or realistic or whatever, then for lips anything from Pralinesims and for eyeshadows anything from Gosik or S-club (including the eyelashes) combined with anything I mentioned before. Results go more or less like this... (Old pics, sorry  )
Cora before... https://i.imgur.com/NY24mPk.png Cora after... https://i.imgur.com/f6vShfm.png Oh, this one is better... I think https://i.imgur.com/Neki8Pw.png ... Man, this pics are really bad :joy:
Though I also used some nosemasks and stuff... dunno if this is of any help, but this is pretty much the makeup that looks good in my sims
I know I have more but this is all I could identify from my packages folder at the moment. As requested, this list only includes blush, eyeliner and lipsticks
@coco That's an amazing post! I went and had a look at some of the stuff but didn't download any. I even discovered that I already own some of it :) The thing is, no matter how much lovely makeup I download, I have absolutely no idea how to apply it! I remember as a young woman going to department stores in my lunch break and spending a small fortune on makeup that would sit in my bathroom drawer unused because I didn't know to apply it :D As I get older I realize that makeup isn't all its cracked up to be and that youth IS beauty and needs no adornment ;)
@Nikkei_Simmer it's a question I hope more of us have. I'm a butch lesbian. I've never worn makeup and I get lost with it for sims too.
Legit most of my custom makeup right now is scars and wounds, tears, and a few matte lipsticks (I think one by Aikea_guinea and another by Elexis). I found Gosik's eye makeup to be way too over the top for me to use and nixed it a while ago. While PralineSims' makeup looks fine, there was a controversy over her potentially stealing textures from LemonLeaf and no matter how dubious the claims were, I just couldn't get over the bad taste it left in my mouth (also her skins used to be really, really bad IMO).
But I often want to make a "glamorous" character who ends up looking like they did their styling at Walgreens instead. I can pair eyeliner and lipstick okay but blush? Contour? Nose masks and shine? Jesus Christ it is wild talking to other simmers about how they style their sims.
Anyways, I'll look through the links provided. Thanks guys.
Thanks @emorrill and @Mikezumi :kissing_heart: I'm far from a makeup expert in real life. I can't even draw two winged eyes to save my life, that doesn't stop me from looking at (and buying) expensive stuff though  I highly agree with Cororon that it's all about the colours and transparency. I don't think I ever use something at full opacity. I like to combine different blushes and lips to get a unique effect too. My sims normally wear 2-3 lipsticks with varying opacity to get the right colour. I can also layer 5 different blushes on with no problem as they target different areas of the face. My sims (like me) aren't very dressy or over the top so I'm all about the natural looking makeup. Even Pralinesims and Tifa makeup which I'm not the greatest fan of but at 20% opacity it can look great.
Edit: There is no one-fits-all eyeliner either, at least in my experience. Some of the Gosik ones come out too far for my liking so it's just about finding one that suits a sim's eye shape. Sometimes less is more
