Misunderstood Part 21:
Jared was quite smitten with Pearl his new across the street neighbor and decided he would like to get to know her better. A quick but nervous phone call to Pearl was soon met with smiles and excited chatting as Pearl was very glad to hear from Jared.

It was decided that they would meet later on in the day at the Diner for dinner. Pearl was excited at the thought of her first semi date, she had gone out with boys before but it was mostly just making out in the woods, the only boy she really liked had rejected her months before. Jared was the first boy she was really interested in since him....he had effectively broken her heart, maybe Jared could heal it.

Jared then before his brain could even register what he was saying blurted out the only three words that Pearl was not ready to hear again..."I love You"...
"No!" she yelled...."No, you don't love me, we just met...how could you say that Jared, you're ruining everything!"

Jared didn't understand what was going on, he wanted to back petal and take back the obviously rage inducing words but there was no going back, it was out there. Jared decided to let Pearl leave before a huge fight broke out, she was on the verge of tears and her body language said he would get nowhere trying to apologize.

Bert had been calling Caroline for about a week, he had wanted to get back in touch with her since the funeral but decided to give Caroline some time to grieve..Caroline finally agreed to meet him.

Bert and Vita were good friends, they met when Bert was in college and Vita was a teachers aide. Bert brought Vita home for Christmas one year and introduced Vita to Nick. In one of their marathon phone chats Vita had angrily informed Bert of Nick's affair with Caroline when she found out about it which was months after it happened, Bert was shocked and extremely mad but he realized he had messed up big time and really couldn't blame her..though he had no idea how Caroline had met Nick as he had never introduced the two and Nick had only heard of Caroline in the very rare phone calls to his brother and had never seen her, Vita had met her on two occasions, that is how she knew who she was when she saw another woman wrapped around her husband..
Bert had hoped Caroline would be willing to give their relationship another try when they met up 15 years ago when they had their one night stand. Bert then found out Caroline was married and his hopes were shattered. The past didn't matter to Bert now, he was determined to get back together with Caroline, he had gotten his womanizing days out of his system and was ready to settle down, he had missed Caroline very much when she left him and decided it was time to grow up and try and win her back. Bert decided it was time to break off his friendship with Vita when Vita started referring to Caroline as "that little tramp."

The past seemed to vanish when Bert embraced her...it was the first time Caroline had felt really loved in years, Bert had always loved her but kept his feeling tightly in check as he knew love brought nothing but heartache....Bert suddenly realized he had heartache even though he never truly gave his heart to anyone. Now was the time to finally admit his love for someone, someone he had loved for years.
