Misunderstood Part 27:
3 months had passed, Claire, Richie and Rafael were all settling in nicely, Claire's 34th Birthday was looming and Richie wanted it to be a special, he decided a friend for Claire would be a good idea, so he adopted Nips for her. Nips was a elder cat who was brought into the animal shelter by her last family because she was well....nippy! Funny thing though she never bit Richie or Rafael when they were at the animal shelter playing with her for a few hours before bringing her home for Claire.
Claire was overjoyed!

Claire and Richie made a trip to the pet store to get a few thing that Richie wanted Claire to pick out for Nips.

They decided to pick out a bed first then Richie wanted to get her a sleep sack shaped like a fish, Claire wasn't thrilled with that idea..

They came home with a bunch of toys and some rather expensive food, Nips loved her new laser toy.

All was going well...Claire and Richie seemed very much in love..

Claire would always change the subject by saying "Why don't we talk about that in the future", in truth Claire had no desire to have a family, she didn't care for kids and never wanted to have any.

Richie on the other had adored children and always dreamed of having at least two...he would love to have a son or daughter someday. One of his best friends in town was the paper girl, she waited for Richie to come out and talk to her every morning.

Nips fit right in she was a snuggly buddy for Claire and took care of Ritchie's "I want a baby" needs as he could dote on her.

2 weeks later Richie had let Nips out for her early morning walk in the great outdoors..

he went to bring her in 15 minutes later but couldn't find her..it was no biggie sometime she didn't come back for hours. He had to leave to work and Claire and Rafael were still asleep so he decided to leave a note for Claire to keep an eye out for Nips as he couldn't locate her.
Nip was having a grand time out...

Jared was feeling exhilarated he had just made the soccer team at school, he decided to start jogging to improve his speed a bit more..

He heard someone yelling "Nips! Come here kitty kitty..." and slowed down when he saw the source of the yelling...

He asked the lady what was wrong, Claire said she couldn't seem to find her cat and gave Jared a description and asked if he could keep an eye out.

She told him her name and where she lived, he said he would look for awhile for her, he looked all over and there was no sign of Claire's cat.

The next afternnon Jared was running towards home when he stopped in his tracks...he leaned closer, 'Oh Cr*ap' he thought to himself...this was not going to make Claire happy. He felt the body, to see of she was really gone but though the body was semi warm there were no signs of life, she must have gotten hit by a car just a short time ago.

Jared dreaded this, he was going to have to tell Claire about the death of her cat, he was already trying to hold back tears, he loved cats.

All he could say when he saw Claire was "Follow me..." he was really trying to hold back tears now. Claire saw his face and knew exactly what was going on, he had found Nips...

"Oh God...my poor kitty!! Jared maybe we can take her to the vet..." Claire said hopefully..though sobs..though she knew her cat was gone.

Jared couldn't take it, he knew there was no hope, he couldn't bear seeing Claire in such pain, he had just met her but was already fond of her, he tried his best to comfort her.

He asked Claire if they should bury Nips now, Claire said she promised Richie and Rafael she would meet them at Rafael's friend's party tonight even though she now didn't want to go but if jared wanted to bury Nips she would appreciate it. She went in the house and got a few of Nips favorite toys to put in the hole with her and gave them to Jared. She had to get ready for the party...she was crying the whole time.

Claire informed the boys about Nips's death when she got to the party...Richie took it very hard.

Rafael went inside to tell his friend Bryce that they would be leaving early as Claire's cat had just died.
Bryce came out to offer his condolences, he was a huge cat lover. He recognized Claire from meeting her months before, she lived across the street from him for awhile. Claire tried to put on a happy face but she really just wanted to go home.

Claire ran out to see what Jared had done, he made a beautiful little grave area for Nips, she was so thankful to him.
