Do you have a baseline sampling of single ingredient nectars?
I've made my Sims produce vast inventories of nectar.
Not a thought of resale or initial quality
Hi, Stella:
I don't think I have ever seen a recommended recipe using only one fruit for all 10 ingredients per batch, though there are several with nine of one ingredient and one of another. My guess is that the multiplier is coded in such a way that single-ingredient batches produce nectar that is lower in both quality and price. I only tested blends that others had found to be high in one, the other or both. With 5,311,735 possible combinations, I didn't want to mess around too much and decided to experiment with sure bets culled from other simmers' reported experiences. Now, for the lemons, it'll have to be ground zero.
Interestingly, the sims don't seem to care a whole heck of a lot about quality, though some ingredients will of course lead to positive moodlets; but the potential for price is obviously something worth pursuing, especially after giving the bottles a few weeks to age. Carmen was able to sell her best bottles for over $1,000 (simoleans) each before we had even finished the project. She has made over $100,000 in nectar sales and most of her bottles are still aging on the cellar racks.
One thing that EA has incorporated that I do think is cute: As the sims taste more nectar, the intelligence of their comments improves as their palate apparently becomes more educated. I also think that they "ooh and ahh" more over the better bottles, but perhaps I'm imagining that.
