@Kynan I did and it worked fine, but I'm one of those simmers who relies on cc and mods to make the game look better.
If you have the Sunnersta Kitchen CC by marcussims9, remove those files. One of them is severely broken but I cannot remember which file.
I don't use build cc, only store content and cas cc*, and my game just crashed again. I think I'm gonna have to play vanilla so my sims will look like tripe.

I had a hair once. It was a toddler hair. Also available on other ages by a well known and trusted maker, but I forget which one right now. Anyway, there was no problem with it in my game until I put it onto a toddler. Fortunately I saved the game with a new name after first using the hair - because it was the first time I'd used it. I had all sorts of problems with the game after that, including an inability to open the save again. So I reverted to the save before I used the hair. It took me ages to work out which file it was in mods folder but I eventually got it and all has been good since then. It was only the toddler version of the hair that as a problem. Other ages of the same hair were good.
So I hope you eventually find the problem file and get rid of it. - HillyPlays5 years agoSeasoned AceI regenerated my sims 3 folder..... Again.... and didn't add any cc or mods and played long enough for Carson and Annabeth to start a family. Their daughter's name is currently Farrah, but I may change it.
- Maybe just slowly very slowly start adding stuff again :)

NeuroBlazer_RandomGenetics - HillyPlays5 years agoSeasoned Ace@Kynan said they(non-gender specific, as IDK what they identify as. :) ) had this issue before and said the mod causing the issue was the random genetics mod. I'm going to take that out and see if it helps. My game did crash last night but it's because I was trying to open an in-game gift from an online friend. Luckily I'd saved not too long before.
- HillyPlays5 years agoSeasoned AceUpdate: Took the Random Genetics mod out and my game still crashed.
- DarkMirageII5 years agoNew VeteranThat specific genetics mod did make my game crash several times so I removed it and the crashing stopped. Sorry to hear you are still having issues. The only way to figure it out is to keep testing.
- I've had similar before but even without mods. Might be to do with the RAM the 32BIT only allows I think 2GB of RAM to the game regardless of how good your system is, so with all this extra stuff happening it force closes because the way the game was designed. Too bad sims 3 isnt 64 bit on windows

If you have a mac, I think it used to allow 2GB but with Windows PC it is approximately 4 GB. I'm not sure what they've done with the 64 bit version that's for the Mac.
