No, ancient coins aren't included, nor are any relics or collectibles that are still in their personal or household inventory. The value of the household's home and furnishings is the most important for earning the "rich" designation. And while your sim is in a WA world, the base camp is considered to be their home. That's probably why he has the "rich" label in France.
