NikkeiSimmer's Asylum (Sims Stuff)

Since everyone seems to be starting a thread where they keep all their Sims 3 ramblings (in one place), I think I'm going to start one

The way Kimber is looking absolutely disoriented while "waking up" is the exact way I feel navigating this particular forum now.

Haven't been playing much in Sims 3 in the past day and a half.  I've actually opened up Cities Skylines and am attempting to learn it and you may actually start seeing Cities Skylines screenshots in my Sims 3 games to flesh out the idea of a bigger town.  If I can get my CAW to cooperate with EA App, I'll try to make a neighbourhood of Cities Skylines Twin Rivers in Sims 3 so that when I start putting up shots of the more expanded view of Twin Rivers, you're not all going "Hey wait a sec...what???"  Yeah, this means that I not only have to learn how to control my Cities Skylines game; I also have to learn how to utilize all of CAW's features to make the section of town that I create match.  I'm not sure just how I'm going to do that, but well, maybe I can get some people who are more familiar with CAW to help me set up backdrops along the edges of the Sims 3 world to make it appear as though it's much larger and well, we just won't be able to get there in the Sims game. but I can simulate it through Cities Skylines and a little photo-manipulation.

Here's a shot of Twin Rivers as it stands... that dotted square?  Yeah,  that's where the town is going to end up being.

The view from the river.  Where I'm placing River and Haruo's neighbourhood will be right  "near the river" - ha ha ha...yeah... I noticed the pun.

And this is the entrance to the town right off the freeway.  Yeah, don't mind the tree in the "out-bound-outta-town lane"  It's going bye-bye when I stick a dirt road down.

While I was playing with this town earlier.  I set up a series of 2 square by 8 square blocks putting single sections down to get the game to generate small "shacks" for a slumtown feel for the lower end of the financial spectrum cims).

I think I might be able to make a section of town like that in a Sims 3 CAW generated world, however.  not to the exact same size.

This however is one lot I should be able to make quite easily in Sims 3.  It's the only style graveyard Cities Skylines has, unless I go about downloading a whole bunch of DLC or user created creations for Cities Skylines which I don't know how to do yet.

So, that might be something to do, in order to flesh out my Sims 3 Legacy a bit more.  In between tossing in shots of FSX to simulate taking flights..and I have to get the Airports DLC for Cities Skylines so that I can get screenshots of the airport they use.

...I'm going to be driving myself insane.

But hopefully...all in all, it makes the "story" itself come alive.

  • The Building of Twin Rivers

A Cities Skylines Town (which I am thinking of striving to re-create a section of it in "Sims 3" for my Legacy - this will be the town that River McIrish-Chikamori and Haruo Chikamori move to in order to live out their lives - I'm planning to create their "neighbourhood" in Sims 3" while simulating the rest of the town in Cities Skylines.

You can see this as the "beginnings of the town come together in Cities Skylines.

The start to the "Industrial Section" of Twin Rivers. This will be where most of Twin Rivers' exports take place.

Looking down the Main Street (which I will figure out a name for later down the road), I've got a separation of streets and a median that will come together in a one lane single street with sidewalk (to make it easier for me to make it in Sims 3 down the road, since frankly, that's the only type of street that Sims 3 seems to have).

Already, the buildings are starting to be built in a neighbourhood that is going to be my "low-income" neighbourhood.  River and Haruo will probably be living in a "high-income" neighbourhood considering their net worth is over §25,000,000 at this point.

...and just like that the buildings are complete. And we've even got a McDonald's-style restaurant on the corner. I can't wait for a "Penny's" (Denny's) to pop up. 🤣

Heading over to the Industrial section to check out what's going on, I see the industrial area starting to come together.

...and it looks as though the factories are ready...pumping pollution into the ground and well, hopefully going to bring in some § into this city because my city hall's accountant is having an aneurysm right now. We're §819.00 in the hole insofar as an operating budget is concerned and I can't put anything else in infrastructure in until I get in the positive. Thank goodness it's only that and not something in the tune of §25,000 which I've seen on some of my Cities Skylines game play.

River: Y'know we do have to make sure that we nurse this money carefully so that we know that we have enough § to pass on to our children.

Keep in mind though this is Cities Skylines at the moment, it's going to end up being the larger part of my Sims 3 Legacy in a ways to give you all an idea of the type of "town"...that River and Haruo are going to end up living in for the sake of economy.

Holy Resets, Batman...hold on a quick second.  I was stumbling around Steam Workshop and stumbled across this gem

Does that look familiar, boys and girls?  😁

This might be more of a familiar angle to most of us "Sims players.  Now do you recognize it?

      Y'know...something like this?

Yeah, looks like River and Haruo are going to end up in... you guessed it...

Hidden Springs.  (Thank you so much for that Sims 3 world, Craven).

Now I've also got it in Cities Skylines which will make things go a lot easier in terms of co-existing worlds/cities in both Sims 3/Cities Skylines to flesh out my story-line for my legacy.

  • Going to head into my game and try to finish building my house.  Since emorrill's  Big, Main Sims 3 thread has disappeared!!!  otherwise known as "What happened in your Sims 3 game today?" Well...I'll post my stuff here for the time being.

    (with the siding on)

A good look at the twin dual fountains.  And yes, they have a basic fire-pit out front.

Now to tackle the layout of the home.  This will be a freeplay right now.  so I won't be using the screencaps for the Legacy.

  • Been out of touch for a while.  Just a few things going on in "personal life" that have made me not in the mood to play Sims at the moment.  Trying to get stabilized.  Plus a bit of a medical scare.

Working on later chapters in my Legacy.

    -------------------------------------

Haruo realized that their pace was going to be quite strenuous. He approached the bookstore and walked in, looking over at the table where the professors had placed their lists of books by degree subject and class. He pondered whether he should just wait until after the summer classes orientation and to pick up the books needed then. Because, chances are that if he did try to pick the books up now, he would end up picking up the wrong ones and then have to go through the hassle of returning them, proving that they were unmarked or undamaged and then less the restocking fee. So he just shrugged his shoulders and headed back towards the university’s student union building which housed the place where the students were getting their orientation.

A hail from across the room caused him to look up to notice that Bebe was smirking in his direction. “Hey, Haruo!” She was with Samantha Grey and River as well as Torao, Shigeo and Parker. She was pointing at the watch on her wrist as she gave him a look of where were you...and Haruo knew that he was not on time; just sliding in just as the folks running the orientation were going to start doing the roll-call. The calling out of his name caused other students to look up at him watching him walk towards his friends.

“Sorry, just being fashionably late…” Haruo remarked with a sardonic smirk as he perused the room. Sitting down in the seat where River had saved him one, he relaxed and looked over at the unoccupied podium. The faculty and dean were still in the midst of discussing the orientation procedure with each other before unleashing it on the soon-to-be student body.

“How long were you here waiting on me?” Haruo whispered to River.

“Not too long. Maybe about fifteen minutes. Bebe’s just yanking your leg.” Some would say that Haruo was naive about certain aspects of societal norms, however, sometimes Bebe’s critiquing got downright annoying. Haruo was not normally irritable, but sometimes being judged and having to deal with judgmental people annoyed the ever-lovin’ cark out of him.

Seeing the university dean walk to the podium, the entire room quieted down and prepared to receive the Dean of Students’ message. The Dean of Students oversaw a group of staff (associate deans, faculty, student coordinators and case managers) who would help the students in their aspirations to attain higher knowledge – he was there to impart the support system of faculty that was there to assist the students in their every-day navigation of the new expectations of their new societal microcosm – essentially to study hard, get good grades, no plagiarism, no academic or non-academic misconduct – the Dean of Students office was also in charge of meting out penalties for such misconduct and other transgressions.

Hey yeah, how much success do you have in making the university world look like those one's in your OP? The one here, above, isn't quite. Maybe. Its nice though.

  • Domenico Franchitti (Vocal Teacher)

Italian-born Domenico, studied at the prestigious Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi, and performed with the Metropolitan Opera as a chorus singer for 15 years before branching into teaching music, moving to Canada and helping students pursue their performance aspirations. Now he's helping River and Haruo prepare for their auditions for the UBC School of Music.

Yeah, I'm not known for making "traditionally" handsome sims.

He's kinda dressed like my piano teacher back when i was taking piano lessons (like way back in the Stone Age).

    - the actual aria sung by renowned tenor Thomas Cooley (listen to it.  It's hauntingly beautiful)

  • I'm sure you've been asked a million times, but how do you get it looking like that? A super-duper million dollar computer and a thousand mods? Plus state O the art photography software and a degree in that?

    Very nice :)

In your fourth picture I feel like I'm looking at my son's Hot Wheels set when he was little. Or maybe my brothers' ... that would have been in the 70s/80s, and maybe not Hot Wheels. And probably not the infrastructure style/signage/technology. Anyway ... Totally nostalgic! How much so? I dunno.

Now if 5 could be like that, but still retain all of the imagin .. ings .. abilitationalisings ... absolutely that is a word! because I say it is. Of Sims 3, then we would have a winner. Each to their own though I suppose ... all here in these 3 woods go 3 though.

    Yep.

  • Game decided to start crashing...so ditched that save and the one before it.  Gonna plant them in Sunset Valley for the time being.  That seems to be the one that is the most stable.

  • Restarting the Legacy...since I seem to have written myself into a corner with that - that and the fact that I ended up downloading a bad piece of cc.

    Excerpt: The Chikamori Legacy.

“Why can’t you live with me, sis and Mom?” her voice was plaintive. “I can’t stand seeing you go through this;” she waved her arm to figuratively take in the whole park. “the hunting out of dumpsters, scrounging for food and sleeping on the cold, hard ground. How are you going to get through winter?”

“I’m not going to let this kill me.” Haruo smirked at her. River felt like belting him across the back of the head.

“I’m serious, dammit.” River growled at him.

Haruo looked at her for a long moment as if to weigh his answer. “How many people have you got living in that house? Your mom, you, your sister, Molly, Sandi and weren’t you saying that your aunt sleeps on the couch because there’s no room in your house for her? So, where exactly am I supposed to sleep?”

River smirked at him, “Well...maybe I could upgrade to a double bed and…” her voice trailed off as she saw her friend’s eyes narrow and his expression change to a frown.

“Uh...no…” He stopped for a moment assessing his view of the situation, “You know how fast city hall will come down on your Mom if she has someone completely unrelated to you guys living in their house in the manner of which you’re speaking of? It’s not worth the risk.”

Hang him, he was thinking about everyone other than himself. River thought. And what am I supposed to do if something happens to him? “What do you mean? Nobody other than the church is going to worry about whether we’re sleeping together.”

“No, I meant the living conditions. If there aren’t enough beds in the house for everybody, anybody who isn’t related to the homeowner is considered a tenant, the house is deemed an illegal tenancy and then I end up back out here anyways while your mother gets fined. Do you seriously think that’s a good option?”

River glowered at Haruo, Did he have to make it sound so dire as well as implicitly making her sound like an idiot for even suggesting that she try to protect him? She knew he was right **bleep** him. But she buried her face in his chest. “Well, you’d better stay safe and get yourself some sort of roof over your head. Because in one hundred and twelve days, I’m joining you, whether you like it or not. And I mean it...the day after my graduation, I’m on the street protecting your back.”

“Are you nuts?” he asked, “Do you really want this sort of life?”

“If it means I have you, yes. I’ll go through anything.” River’s voice was muffled because her head was nestled against his sleeveless grey hoodie. They spent a long moment cuddled together with Haruo’s arms around her. “ I mean that. I love you.” she murmured, her voice barely audible, but Haruo could feel the vibration of her voice against him. He really didn’t want to have her end up homeless alongside him, even if she was going to be a young adult in one hundred and twelve days, but she was damned and determined to be with him, even through his most trying times. “That’s the only concession you’re getting out of me.”

Haruo shook his head, he couldn’t understand why River was so adamant that she wanted to be with this abject failure of a life that he’d ended up in. And it seemed that she was going to up-end her life once she graduated high-school just to be with him. “You know what, let’s get out of here...and head to Central Park.” he said. "That way there’s no complaints about us loitering around rich man’s park.” his bitter sarcasm towards the Altos and the Landgraabs was palpable. “They don’t like us poor folk hanging around the neighbourhood.”
