Not Me Getting Nostalgic for 2012 and SimGuruGraham!

So as you may know, I've been fancying myself some Sims 3 lately. Mostly getting into all of the packs and features I never had a chance to explore during its prime. One of these things is Roaring Heights.

Its boardwalk looks like this: aesthetically pleasing but rather empty~

To provide some pizzazz, I decided to develop the lot to function into a Festival Grounds. That would attract more sims!

You see, I've never done this before. So I did some googling and quickly came across this archive of a decades-old blog post, Seasonal Lot Markers Tutorial, from none other than EAxis's very own SimGuruGraham!

No. This was NOT any old middling blog post. Graham decided to go all out and craft a 6,000+ word tutorial on how to use the patch update's Seasonal Lot Marker complete with a FAQ section and a 46-step unabridged walkthrough. Look at the effort. Look at the scrupulousness! B)

Thank you, @SimGuruGraham! I wonder what he's up to now. I hope he's doing well. I see he's a Production Lead and most recently worked on four (4x) Sims 4 Kits - First Fits Kit, Desert Luxe Kit, Everyday Clutter Kit, and Pastel Pop Kit. I hope he'll be a part of the Rene team.

Not me getting nostalgic for 2012 and SimGuruGraham! :D

  • Thought about getting Roaring Heights...(the world...if I might specify... ~smirk~ @RoaringHeights ) and I agree with @RoaringHeights, the fixer-upper car is intriguing.

@stickykisses - Zombies are always a pain in Sims 3. If they don't eat your garden, they're always attacking you. I've tuned them out with NRAAS Retuner, partly because I just can't be bothered with them.
  • I LOVE Roaring Heights. I have multiple edited versions of the boardwalk in my game library and have downloaded so many art deco styled community lots. The look and feel of the world is really one of my favorites.

Love Roaring Heights and am interested in trying a new store world!
  • Sunlit Tides or Island Paradise if you like snorkeling, water sports or just hanging out on Island time with the locals. Monty Vista if you like fresh pizza and atrisan bread or exploring the old European world...you might run into the mafia if you're too nosy.. ;) Be careful..the world is so much fun! TwinBooks screams True Blood with that dank swampy backwoods. Lucky Plams is desert love with deep lonely cowboy canyons and a huge casino in the city. You could lose your love and your money real fast in that world..end up living on a house boat because your love kicked you out for gambling with aliens. Into The Future if you like robots and desert Dune. These are a few worlds in the sims 3 out many that I love to play. Sims 3 worlds offer endless gameplay and creativity!
    Happy simming!

  • I have stumbled upon that tutorial when trying to understand seasonal lot markers, so it has definately been useful. It should be kept around somewhere.

So far I've had limited use for the Boardwalk lot. I placed it in the Sunlit Tides world which I used for Sofia and Palash's honeymoon. The lot is cool enough, I mean, there's roller coasters in Sims 3. I have been sort of thinking about .. maybe.. using the roller coaster pieces to build something of my own on some other lot somewhere else, but I haven't gotten around to it. So far I don't think it would fit in anywhere.

I used to really enjoy playing The Roller Coaster Tycoon series back in the day, building theme parks was fun. ;) Though in real life, I'm actually terrified of roller coasters and would never ride one...

Anyway, I’ve found it pretty easy to make new seasonal lots thanks to the guide. I’m still getting new things out of TS3 even after all of these years.
  • Nostalgia=whole grain healthiness ..nonthing delusional 'bout that. <3
