Organizing CC

How on earth do you organize your CC without using folders? I want to separate the CC I download from what I’ve downloaded off the TS3 store. I cannot have a folder inside the downloads folder because then it doesn’t show up on the launcher. Is there a way to organize it??

I try not to keep my CC and store content in the downloads folder after I've installed it. I periodically clean the folder of installed stuff, and store it on my other hard drive, organised in subfolders so that I can find if necessary.

@qpmomma , sorry to ask a silly question, but I have to ask just in case: are you sure this content was actually installed, and not just downloaded into the downloads folder?

This is how I do my CC. Custom Content(not store items) USUALLY go into the mods folder.
From there you can create folders to place them in.I believe they can only go one folder deep.

@GraceyManor , the image you showed is for the Packages folder, but the OP asked about the Downloads folder which is for sims3pack files, which unlike package files have to be installed and not just placed in the folder - I was wondering if maybe they mistakenly thought sims3packs functioned the same way as packages.
  • This happens periodically.Items will “uninstall” themselves if the launcher gets too filled with items. That is why it is recommended to install content in batches
  • Ok but after I download it and remove it from the downloads folder it takes it out of my game. Am I doing something wrong?

I was wondering the same thing as you are @PalmArrow.

Of course once I install the item/s into my game, I then copy and paste the item into a sub-folder inside of my 2nd download folder the I have made outside of the EA folder so that the folder inside stays less cluttered. I name my folders such as ATS3 and there are folders inside of that one such as "Outdoor items" or "Bedroom items" And then I place the items from ATS3 in their proper folders.
  • @PalmArrow yes his post says sims 3 store items. But store items are not cc.So his title is a little misleading.Anything from the store is installed via the launcher and I usually delete them off my launcher afterwards.if you guys want to back up the downloaded stuff you could get an external or a usb and hold the downloads there maybe? Stuff downloaded to the launcher is just that, downloaded. Its not installed until you hit install. So I don’t think the downloads folder could be organized like CC can.

@GraceyManor , I know. But the OP specifically said that the content they remove from the downloads folder is not in their game anymore, which is why I was wondering if they perhaps hadn't installed it at all (I have no other explanation).
