Origin Update Error

When I went to start my Sims 3 today, I noticed there was an Origin update. Usually my Origin updates go without fail. But this one decided to be a posterior-crevice and carked up. Then when I went to go back into the game and see if it would update again, it wouldn't update. Usually I don't particularly want to spend a ton of time on the phone...and talk to EA's tech support (although they're a great bunch of people)...I decided to go to Armageddon mode and torched my Origin Client software...and re-installed. In the process of installing it over again. Hopefully that works.

I'll let you know if it works.
  • Sometimes clearing the Origin cache also helps when an intended update goes all wrong.

    Yup...worked.

So technically you have three (four counting @igazor's solution) choices in this problem.

    1. Sit on the phone for half an hour or more with EA Tech Support
    2. Just nuke your Origin and reinstall
    3. Or get a Pre 2012 CD and reinstall without Origin.
  • @Nikkei_Simmer There is another option:

    5) Rebuy the whole thing on Steam for $5 a pack (and a bundle or two for $7.50) during the next good sale (apparently not this one), launch the game exactly once through Steam, then go digging through the program files until you find the TS3w.exe shortcut and never involve another app in your gaming experience ever again.

On the other hand, when have you ever missed a chance to blow something up? Although perhaps we as a community should be worried that your pyromania has broken through the boundaries of the game and is metastasizing into the rest of your digital life. What's next? I'm not sure I want to know.

Just had to reinstall my Origin for the second time in two days. It was throwing up a "no internet connection" error. So instead of clearing the Origin cache, I just nuked the thing. :D It's just easier for me. :D
