Insects
This technique is for those who would like to photograph insects and have the option to control the background. This way you also save yourself a lot of time by NOT having to go out in search of beetles and butterflies.
When I snapped my insect set for myself, I did it the long-winded way by loading my home lot with spawners, waiting for appropriate insects to spawn, move them into a white room and then snap them. Then I discovered fog emitter.
Ever since the fog emitter item has been changed from being an Ambitions item to being a basegame item, this method isn't restricted to those with Ambitions only. :D
Prepare your room - change the wallpaper and floor to suit your taste, it will the background for butterfly photos since they fly around. Change the floor if you're going to be photographing beetles since they crawl on the ground. Place down the fog emitter, found in buydebug menu. ("TestingCheatsEnabled on"->"BuyDebug" ) It's an uneven-looking shiny blueish ball thing.

Now (while still in Buy/Build mode) shift+ctrl+click the fog emitter and choose "Set Visual Effect...", an action window should pop up, with an action for fog likely already keyed in there (ep2SpiritFog). Change it to:

Choose an insect you want to photograph and key in the action code into the fog emitter, then go into livemode and the insects should be there.
I've started off with a Bamboo butterfly.

After you've snapped one you're happy with, enter Buy/Build mode and shift+click the fog emitter to change it to a different insect.
