Problem with Dive Lots

I am making my current CAW project specifically so I can have all the community lots my sims ever use, but I am having trouble with dive lots. It's not an issue of building them, but having them at all. After I lowered the water level to empty the ocean in the world I'm making from Sunset Valley, erased all the non-routable paint under the ocean, except around the edges, I placed three dive lots, and exported my world for testing. I didn't build on the lots, just placed the empty lots where I thought the dive lots would work best.

But when I played a test game to check on performance, there was a lot of lag and freezing. I removed the dive lots in CAW and exported the world again, without changing anything else, and the lag and freezing is absent. The world plays fine.

I had this same problem with an earlier world I made, and gave up on having dive lots in that one. But I need this world to have them, or it defeats the purpose of making it.

Could this issue possibly be because the dive lots aren't in deep enough water? If so, how can I tell when the water is deep enough? If I use the world editor to place dive lots, the lot outline will be red if it's not a good place for the lot, but I don't get that kind of indicator in CAW. This is Sunset Valley, so I know it's deep enough for dive lots, but I don't know how to tell where I can place them in CAW.
  • I read that to find the depth of the water in CAW is to place a fish spawner on the water and then check the coordinates. Info is in this post - https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/810760/dive-lots-and-water-levels

I've never had any dive lots in any of the worlds I use as the depth seems to be too shallow and they stick up out of the water. I've also read that water depth doesn't matter as there is no mention of water depth here - https://www.wikihow.com/Move-and-Place-Dive-Spots-in-Other-Worlds-in-Sims-3:-Island-Paradise

Anyway, I hope someone sees this and has some better advice then what I can give as I'd like to have dive lots in my shallow water worlds ; )

Why are you lowering the water? What are you emptying from the ocean?

Don't worry about the No Sim paint in the Ocean. You don't have to add nor remove it. Water is always "No Sim" for walking.
Do you have the Routing paint on the beaches?
non-routable paint under the ocean, except around the edges

    Can you show any pictures?

*An easier way to see under the water is to block the "fog."
On the Menu bar - View -> Untick Fog
Then you can see the under the water.

**Remember, Sunset Valley has holes in the Routing paint under the distant terrain and can cause the game to generate Travelers/Sims back there. Those Sims can get stuck.
If you're going to use the map, fill in the routing "Camera Non-routable" under the terrain.
You can see the holes best if you hide the objects and terrain.
-On the Menu, go to View - Layers and untick both Terrain and Objects.
-Then Terrain/Terrain Painting tools (on the top Menu), over to the Terrain Editing Tools window - Routing. This will highlight lines
    -Menu- View- Show Routing Data
Pull back your view so you can see the whole map. This will show any holes in the routing paint the easiest (no trying to see in the grass/rocks/objects.

I meant I emptied the water so I could see the terrain under the water.

I needed to erase it because most of the ocean had camera non-routable paint under it, and when I exported and tried it in-game, I couldn't get anywhere near the places where I wanted the dive lots.

No, I meant around the edges of the world, next to the distant terrain.

    Can you show any pictures?

What pictures would you like to see? I can get whatever you want.

Thank you. I didn't know about that. I will do that from now on.

No need to apologize. You have been very helpful. And thank you for the pictures. I don't get much out of someone just telling me something, I need to actually see what they are talking about.

Oh! You were placing the dive lots in the far corner of the map. I see.
If so, no pictures needed. You have to remove the no-camera paint there, like you did. :)
