I'm tied to Origin too, eugh. I've been playing since 2010 so all of my EPs were purchased before Sims was even on Steam.
After recently reinstalling my game I had access to most of my stuff through Origin but there is one expansion pack it won't let me play. Because I was in 8th-9th grade I did not have my own credit card and any packs bought online were purchased through my dad's EA account and registered to my Sims 3 account using the code, so when my Sims 3 account was turned into an Origin account, all of the registered packs showed up in my Origin library. However, I must have forgotten to register Seasons, because it is still locked to my dad's account. Even though I installed Seasons on my computer, it won't open my game without being connected to Origin, and it won't let me use Seasons because it's not on my account >:( Doesn't even show up in the EP picker even though it told me it had successfully installed.
I didn't know any of this stuff about Steam and codes though, so that's very helpful to know!! Definitely going to go check out that summer sale :)
A sympathetic EA Customer Support agent in a real time conversation might be able to help you with this. See the HELP menu at the bottom of the screen in full-sized browser windows for contact options. We aren't meant to transfer ownership of games around but that policy wasn't really designed in order to protect 8th graders from stealing EPs from their Dad (or vice versa). Obviously that wasn't the intent behind the way you made that purchase back then, it was meant to be registered to you.
