I forgot to mention I also tried to Clean Slate reward to and that didn't help. It just caused my sim and his romantic interest to no longer be in love, the other sim was still listed as his partner. The girlfriend doesn't live in the active house currently, though I guess I could try adding her to see if that helps. I'm not using mods right now for fear of glitching my game after I was unable to play Sims 2 anymore due to it becoming glitched (and issues like this really make me miss Sims 2!) though I guess I could try that too if nothing else works.
