I tried googling this issue because it does sound so strange but could not find anything lol Then I remembered the roomate option on the phone that I think came with uni as I once had roomates turning up to my sims active lot and had no idea why then later find out the roomate service on my phone was ticked as on so maybe it could be that and somehow the game thought they were sending roomates back to your home world with you? Anyway just a thought I hope you manage to sort it out as I would find that annoying too-)
Re: Roomate feature with Sims 3 University. 2 the way to pick and choose roommates is to use roommate services on a phone, select the real estate and travel Services option, and then select “Roommate Services on/off
