I've never seen this myself, but if it did happen I would probably use MC's Add Sim to give the ones who followed my sim home a household of their own in town rather than trying to get rid of them entirely. Unless I really didn't like those sims and didn't even want them in my world, I guess. :)
I guess I'll do that next time. This time, they've been annihilated.
