School Bus Missing

When I want to be sure that my kids will go back home, I hit "go back home" once their school activity starts. If there's no bus in your town, maybe they can go back by bike as soon as the school finishes.

I'd also suggest checking whether Nraas Traffic would help. I used that mod once for dealing with limousines, maybe there's an option for school buses.
I've just read the site and there was nothing about school buses. On the other hand, if you have the module Career for Story Progression, you can disable carpooling. Perhaps, if you had disabled that, it's affecting your current household.

@TadOlson I much prefer to let the game take care of those things. Certainly, if I were playing in past centuries as you do, I would want to do as you do, but I always play in modern times. And I have so many goals I'm trying to accomplish with my main sim, I really prefer to do without the added burden of having to babysit her husband and children's every move. School and work give me time to focus solely on what I want her to do.

@thuggishsplicer I do have the Careers module for SP, but I don't have the carpool disabled. The father has been taking the carpool, even now that he has his own police cruiser.

@coco I have had this happen before. In fact it was when these children's mother was a child. It fixed itself when she went on a field trip. After the bus took the children to the field trip and took my sim home, it started coming every day again. But this time the bus took the children on a field trip on a day that one of my sims' children played hooky until I caught him and sent him to school, but too late to make the field trip. He came home on the bus, but his little sister had to ride her bike home from the field trip location. After that, the bus quit coming.

I used the MOAR Interactions mod for a while, but I didn't like that my sims could no longer slow dance, as I use that a lot, especially at weddings. When I originally downloaded it, the page said that the slow dance glitch had been fixed in the latest version, but it wasn't, at least not in my game. So I quit using it.

I think that procedure works to preserve careers and career performance, but when you do that with schools it results in all children and teens effectively starting a brand new school, hence the C grades.

I could change the performance with NRaas Master Controller, but I don't know of any way to change their grades back to A's.

I'm surprised that's a problem. When I use MC to max out school performance for a child or teen their grade goes back to an A. Did that not happen to your sims? In my game it seems that the grade is just a function of where there school performance meter is.

edit: I've lost the school bus in most of my saves. Usually when I give the child sims with a preferred vehicle (bike or hover scooter). It may track with a teen learning to drive as suggested above too. I use MOAR interactions (and haven't noticed an issue with slow dancing) but the calls my sims make to enable or disable the school bus don't often stick.

Buzzler has a carpool/school bus mod that does the same thing as Moar Interactions without all the other features. I'm surprised though that slow dancing hasn't been fixed for you yet @IreneSwift as that was indeed an issue but a very long time ago.

Although if some sort of stuck field trip scenario is still running in the background, I wonder if the solution to try first is MC Resetting the school (instead of replacing it).

I didn't even think about the possibility that buying my sims' children bicycles and designating which child each belonged to might eliminate the school bus the way designating preferred vehicles for adults eliminates the carpool. Maybe that's the issue this time, though it wasn't when my sim was a child, as I never actually bought her a bike.

I didn't ever actually unpause the game after I changed the children's school performance. You're probably right, it would have changed once the game started moving again. I thought the performance bar had to be full for a few days before the grade became an A. But I guess that's for the honor roll, not the grade. So maybe it wouldn't be so bad to just go ahead and replace the rabbithole. Her dad already got the points for his wish to see her get on the honor roll. Maybe he'll wish it again and get more. LOL! But if it's the bicycles that are causing the school bus issue, then I guess I'll have little choice but to live with it. I'm not going to take away their bikes. They were birthday presents, each bike in its owners' favorite color. You can't get that with the default vanishing bicycles.

@igazor Doesn't resetting the whole town do the same thing to everything as resetting one object does to that one? I reset everything every sim week, right after Overwatch does its 3 AM maintenance on Sunday mornings. The town has been through at least 2 resets since the school bus quit coming. That's why I decided to try replacing the rabbithole instead of resetting the school. I can try it and see if it works. It would certainly be less disruptive than replacing the rabbithole. But maybe it's just the bicycles. Maybe I need to just live with it.

Yes, resetting the entire town would include a reset of the school. Okay, I vote for the bicycles as well then. :)

Or maybe just switch tabs and back again. I need to switch tabs to show name changes when using MC, the school tab may be similar.

I guess my kids do get the push to go home, at least some of the time. I've seen it, though I hardly ever check on them, unless they're not home when they should be. Maybe it's because they're on high free will so I don't have to babysit their every move, because of how much I have to do with their parents, especially their mother. They might just be deciding they'd rather stay at school and play on the playground, which is what they're usually doing when I notice it's way past time they should be home. Even in real life, children that age can get distracted by something fun pretty easily. Never mind that they have a much better playground in their own backyard. LOL!

I'm sure now that it must be the bicycles. They've been on two or three school field trips since I started this thread. The bus always takes them to the field trip location, then home afterward, but they're still on their own for getting to and from school the rest of the time.

I've used Mods to disable the carpools and school buses for so long because that used to glitch out that I'd rather have that disabled anyways and I also use awesomemod to disable the automated school assignments though I like some children to enroll in school if they live close enough to walk to the school.I'll have some children or kids who never even attend school and will just change the aging up trait if it's bad and would not fit with the story.
