"School not in session" bug

I had this problem several years ago, when I placed another school in the world. Deleted the second one and everything was okay...at the next day. Is your issue still present after one or two sim days?

It would really be too late for any kind of fix (DebugEnabler's Fix Homeworld, evicting and moving back in, replacing the school, etc.) to be of any use for the same day where school has either already started or is about to start. The fixes more typically take hold the next school day.Or the next school day after they register, if re-registering for school is required. I would consider stalling this sim's aging (are you using NRaas SP?) or subtracting a few days from their total age using MC Cheats until you get this sorted out so that they don't lose half or more of their remaining school time.

I had a teen once who, all story related not really due to glitches, didn't get to go to high school for almost two sim weeks in the beginning. There was a move to a new (to them) world by way of the Traveler mod, then there was a family reunion/wedding he needed to be off for, then a holiday, then he got sick, though nothing serious (Vector mod). One of the benefits of playing much longer age spans is that it there is usually still plenty of time to catch up when things like this happen though it did take a bit of work and effort on his part at the time. :)

The last time this happened to me I bulldozed the school and replaced it. I did save the school to library first so I could use the same building. NO, the kids were not hurt! They were just standing around waiting to get back in and that worked. Good luck!

If I had this problem the first thing I'd try would be to reset the school. Using master controller.

Ive fixed broken tombs in Egypt by resetting them too.

I will follow @igazor 's advice and play until the next day to see if the child can go to school then. If he still can't, I'll try resetting or bulldozing the school.

I know! I usually play with aging either set to epic or turned off, but in this particular save (I normally cycle between seven or eight different saves) I wanted Sunset Valley to move a few generations ahead, and although I'm just playing one household, the fun is in observing the whole town. I'm enjoying "family tree surfing" - starting from one of my sims' family trees and clicking away to see how the whole town is interrelated. I used normal lifespan because I was impatient to get to the point when I can do that. It's like raising a miniature civilisation in a Petri dish. :)

Update, in case someone with the same problem finds and reads this thread: "Fix homeworld" did work, I just needed to wait until the next school day, like @igazor said! ( @Goulsquash , I didn't see your advice on salvaging the current day on time, but thank you!) That meant waiting for two days because the next day was Spooky Day, but after that the school bus arrived and everything was fine - for me, at least. I don't think the child sim was happy about it - I think he had been enjoying this bug!

I like the way in which the (imagined) truant officer is sitting in the police car in the background to make sure this one gets on the school bus as he should. ;)

Hahah, after noticing the police car, I thought this school bus is escorted by the police for some reason :lol:

@gerefteast , thank you for responding! I didn't actually allow another day to pass - I stopped the game around 9:14 in the first morning I noticed the problem. I'm playing on normal lifespan in this save, so the child lifestage lasts only a week, and one of these seven days is a holiday and two are the weekend. That leaves only four school days, and I feel bad about wasting any of them!

I understand wasting a school day can be a problem. I think everything should be ok at the next day. If no, I really don't know what to do, as I don't use NRaas MC mod and my issues with school being not in session were caused by a different thing.
