That social worker situaltion used to transfer that child into the adotion pool in TS2 though that was reported to have been changed in TS3 though it is possible to get an adopted child that might look like some of your sims if you're using NRaas for story progression to influance genetics of immigrant NPC's and adoption pool children.I've heard of others losing saves to corruption after children were taken away by social workers in TS3.I even lost three saves to corruption from that myself in Sims 3 though it never happened in TS2 without me exiting the lot without saving and reloading.

There is a bug in the game that causes rabbithole door jigs to spawn continuously (albeit it's an uncommon one but some seem to get it more often than others Twallan fixed that with OW) preventing sims from getting to work. Most likely that's what you had happen although the timing of it happening at around the time the Social Worker took the baby seems ominous it had nothing to do with the Social Worker. The only other thing that could cause it is if you had mods in play and they were conflicting all over each other slowing churning and wreaking the innards of your game.

    *Edit*
That was ErrorTrap Twallan had fixed the bug with not OW.
  • I'm going to have to agree that the social worker taking the kids away scenario does not by itself indicate or cause game corruption no matter how much one player here insists that it does. Granted it's not a scenario most players want to have happen (guess there could be some exceptions), it's not always understood well by all players especially those who switch active households without mod protection, it can sometimes really be forced culling in what the game mistakenly thinks is an overpopulated world or an out of balance population, but from all reports this is a facet of the game that generally does work as intended at least on current patch levels.

The babysitter waltzing off with a baby or toddler in their arms right before our eyes when the adults come home can't really have been intended, that almost has to be a bug in the game though thankfully I've never seen it, but it's not really corruption either and is not difficult to prevent if the player is paying attention and steps in if it's about to happen.
