My Sims do enjoy woohooing as a hobby. I do try to give them hobbies that match their traits. Gardening or fishing for my outdoorsy type. Swimming, diving. My artsy Sims love sculpting and painting and such.
I generally cheat and lay down a tiberium high-chance spawner from "Buy Debug" >:) But if you have WA or Supernatural. You can collect tiberium one of two ways - that isn't cheating ;)
1. (World Adventures) Get your sim up to Level 10 and achieve the board-breaking achievement in Martial Arts. Then utilize the board breaker to break space-rocks and every so often you'll get a tiberium popping up.
2. (Supernatural) If you have a sim that is a werewolf. Work on his hunting skills and he'll track down gemstones.
