Sims 2: Strangetown - lots and sims rebuilt for Sims 3

https://i.imgur.com/gR7O0hJ.png

The fifth town's content remade for Sims 3! Strangetown is simultaneously the smallest town of all of Sims 2, AND the largest. And that is is because the PC original has been supplemented by Strangetown appearing in four additional games, each with exclusive content. The PS2 has a new Smith family feuding with an alien-hating neighbour, a household of crazy artists trying to make an Art Gallery, a forlorn washed up movie star looking for a dead lost love on a ruined movie set, and a regular family in a green area of Strangetown. The GBA and DS versions continued on from the Busting Out and Urbs handheld stories, with a few minor cameos from PC Strangetown, and the PSP version was a full-fledged story about what happens to Strangetown a few years down the line, with almost every PC playable sim appearing. Thus, I was quickly swamped with content to make and I got stuck many times over how to convert the non-PC game lots to Sims 3's style.

Strangetown has always been my favourite of the pre-made towns, as its wacky, weird and full of nonstandard gameplay and content. Like with Veronaville and ALT, I also consider the La Fiesta Tech students to be part of Strangetown, thus you will find versions of them living at home, before they go to university.

Content for this town will be the slowest but most longlived, as I have a LOT of content to do. As of this first post though, I have finished all of the base PC sims and lots and will upload those first.

As always, there should be no CC, as I only use bugfixing mods in my games. As a result, some families and lots look different, due to Sims 3 simply not having anything close.

    • The Bratford Family

Monica is always chasing the newest fad or meme. Recently shes into political activism and rebellion, but noone takes her seriously given her hypocrisy undermining her every effort.

Monica's newfound political activism can seem somewhat...fake. She can often be found protesting deforestation and animal testing for cosmetics while handing out stacks of fliers and free makeup samples.

Monica Bratford was the oldest sim in the LFT Sorority, and thus, its 'queen bee'. Yet, almost everything about her was kind of fake, as implied in the bio. Generally seemed the type of person to leap at every trend, always having to be at the forefront of the current thing, without actually being part of anything. In hindsight, I should have set her LTW to be 'reach the top of all social groups', in the release version its set to be for nectar collection, to show she WANTs that high society life she makes herself appear to be part of.

Like Gunnar, she has an extra trait slot unlocked via the Rebel group, making her ideal career the Art Appraisal career, either branch works for her. For now though, she has a job at the spa, because its a luxury place.

      https://i.imgur.com/pM6t3ta.jpg
The third and final of the Land Lane units, Monica lives a more drab life than she outwardly shows; shes all show with no substance. Perhaps after she has a degree, she can work on making her lifestyle real.

She has what appears to be a fancy super expensive car, but its value is much much less. Perhaps its a mere body kit? (I lowered the astronomical value of the car to a few thousand to not inflate the bills; cars are way too expensive in Sims 3)
    • The Dosser Family

Mickey is content to just chill out and coast through life. Even his friends and family have trouble getting him off his couch and outdoors. Will he ever realise theres more to life than the next episode of his favourite TV shows?

Mickey isn't going anywhere fast, but he's quite happy about it. Even his good friends have a hard time getting him off the couch. Will he ever change, or will he simply master the art of doing nothing?

Mickey was the slacker of the University expansion as a whole; he had no major determined yet, and started the game on academic probation; as such, he was technically the same age as Guy, which is reflected in his age data; he is one year older than all the other 'freshmen', and the same age as all the 'sophomores'. (American university is strange, we never used such terms in my country). He does not have an extra trait slot like the sophomores/juniors do though, as he only earns that after completing his repeated semester.

Back in Sims 2, I would make him go on probation every new semester to drag out the life of the fraternity; these days he passes via the bare minimum with the help of his frat buddies, so that at least Matthew and him can graduate together.

This version has all the traits you'd expect of an ambitionless guy chilling out all day everyday, the only exception is that he DOES have a part-time job; a grocery store clerk, as its the closest I can get to a Slacker career job. Plus, being employed stops the game from forcing him into random unfitting careers at high levels, due to Bob A in the X career needing a Boss.

When I decorated his home, I made it deliberately strewn with discarded clothing he hadn't bothered to take to the laundromat, and a few trash piles here and there, but a lot of that was cleaned up on its own and likely isn't present in the download, oh well. He even has a spot out back to chill out with Matthew and Guy after he meets them at university.

Blossom is a friendly young woman with a gift for bonding with animals and nature. Shes especially interested in biology, and is looking to get a degree in Science at the local university.

Blossom is quiet, friendly and eager to meet new people. She loves butterflies and bumblebees.

Blossom was the 'hippie' of the LFT students, and was pretty much destined for the Natural Science career that was exclusive to university graduates. I couldn't get her face to match up very well, her eyes in Sims 2 gave me hours of issues, eventually I gave up and accepted the current look; she still should be identifiable, she just doesn't look like shes asian anymore. She was originally part of the Student Housing household, and basically the one keeping the peace between William and Klara, as she was friendly with both. I've given her a medical career, as Strangetown is flooded with science careers.

Jessie dreams of being a professional sports star someday, but for now, shes into psychology and figuring out how people tick.

Jessie is majoring in psychology, but what she really wants is to be a professional sports star. Maybe she'll learn how to analyze her way into the big leagues some day.

Jessie was one of the four Sorority members at LFT, and effectively the romantic troublemaker of the household. She starts off with a big crush on her housemate's boyfriend, Matthew Hart, and drama will surely unfold if Matthew ever comes over, or if both Jessie and Sarah visit the fraternity. Her lifetime wish matches her bio; she wishes to be a pro sports star. However, she starts off here in the Sports Agent career, as it literally is all about 'analysing your way into the big leagues', and it also matches her jock nature.

    • The Terrano Family

Stella has definitely come a long way from home. Will a diverse town like this one offer enough opportunity for even her to fit in?

Stella loves reading and studying and is completely thrilled about being in college. She has a weakness for cookies.

Stella is the prime reason many link LFT to Strangetown; while all the other students are generally normal, Stella is just wacky enough to make LFT part of Strangetown, being the game's only other living pureblood alien. Naturally, in this version she has alien powers, which makes her a studying powerhouse; she needs no sleep, only the occasional brain recharge session, and even then its only needed if she uses her powers. Her favourite food is indeed cookies too!

She starts off in the Science career, despite how many are already in it, due to her major in 2 being extremely linked to science.

      https://i.imgur.com/aM8dKzY.jpg

I do believe one of the five units was naturally pink, so it was a no-brainer to move in Stella there, as almost all her outfits in Sims 2, are pink. She doesnt really need the bed, but it does help pass time if you force an alien to sleep till morning (plus, they get a permanent Well-Rested bonus!)

DJ enjoys music, both playing instruments and singing. With her natural talent, she just might become a musical superstar, but first, she wants to get through university.

      https://i.imgur.com/mpoTqQJ.jpg
DJ keeps herself busy by performing at local venues. She's creative, talented -- only staying in the sorority until she can find a place of her own.

DJ is an odd duck character. Her character arc is basically 'im in a sorority but I don't want to be here', and given her friendship with Zoe Zimmerman, it seems like she is set up to replace Gunnar and move in with Zoe and Jasmine during her third year, as Gunnar will usually have graduated by then and moved out. In Sims 2, Creativity is a catch-all skill that is Painting, Writing, all the instrument skills, all in one, so with her starting three skill points in Creativity, she can easily replace him on the guitar.

In Sims 3 however, those three skill points I assigned to Piano; now the Shifting Paradymes can induct DJ and have all four instruments covered. DJ is also fully able to go into the Singer career and go solo. Its all up to the player where she goes. She starts off with a bookstore part-time job, given her original major was Literature.

Similarish to Ajay's setup, as DJ is also pretty much in a 'starter state', with touchs to reflect her character, such as the piano. Note that I moved the grill to where the bins are, and the bins to outside the house, to make room for something else shortly after taking these pics.

    • The Wrightley Family

The Oresha-Hoh-Var Fraternity was founded by Guy Wrightley's great-grandfather decades ago. Will Guy maintain his family's strong academic history or allow jock life to be too much of a distraction?

      https://i.imgur.com/wW2ettQ.jpg
Guy is a great student, a good friend, and generally successful at all his endeavors. Can anything knock him off his even keel?

Guy is pretty much the powerhouse student of LFT. A good guy all around with no real faults, he even tries to get Mickey off the couch and involved with the fraternity activities as well as studying. He is the same age as Mickey, but since Mickey slipped behind in the second semester and has to repeat it, he'll graduate before him. Thus, Guy has an additional trait slot, as he reached his second school year.

This version of him is noticabley more well-off than almost all the other students, and he starts off as a Paper Boy for the Journalism career, due to his Literature major in 2. That career is one I usually forget about, especially since in Sims 2 it was an expansion pack career.

    • The Vonderstein Family

Klara came a long way from another country to enroll in the local university, and her initial excitement has already faded from the strangeness of her fellow Strangetown residents. Can she get over the culture shock and learn to adjust to her new setting?

      https://i.imgur.com/WJb1Nw9.jpg
Though Klara was at first excited about studying abroad, she finds Fiesta a bit provincial and her fellow students strange. She's not interested in spending time with anyone, really, and is working to overcome an espresso addiction.

Klara sticks out like a sore thumb in LFT, second only to the alien student. Clearly a rich German transfer student, Klara is entirely out of her element, now being in a small desert town where strange things happen. Of course, her clashing with everything around her, is just another way to say shes a strange resident that fits right in. For some reason, she starts off with quite the beef with William Williamson, odd, as they are both workaholic all-study-no-play types.

Her political science major in 2 is a natural reason to start her off in the Politics career; Honest Jackson may have trouble keeping his job as town Mayor with her in the running.

Naturally, her very unique appearance was very difficult to portray, but I think I've done a good job at making her stand out just like the original.

      https://i.imgur.com/VKv5syj.jpg
      https://i.imgur.com/xy8EYmV.jpg
An open yard, exposed to the strange residents of Strangetown? Surely not! Klara has used her riches to fence off her area and give herself some privacy, as well as a yard to impress PT9...if he was ever allowed in to see it.

She didn't spare any expenses to make the home worthy of her. As it may be some time before she travels back to her home country, she might as well get comfortable, and a dinky starter home just wouldn't do it for someone of her caliber.

That is all of the playable students accounted for! Next up, expect Bella Goth's Strangetown incarnation. PSP content from earlier in the timeline, so it matches the PC era, and a couple of townies and NPCs. Maybe some of the PS2 content as well. But first, i'll take a break :p
