Sims 3 Black Screen when launching

Game Options or the keyboard shortcut (it's some modifier key, try Shift or Option + Enter) to toggle into windowed mode. But if you can't get as far as Game Options because the game isn't starting up at all enough for you to get there, then find the file called Options.ini in your TS3 user game folder in Documents. Open the file in a text editor such as TextEdit, look for the line that says fullscreen = 0, change the 0 to a 1, save and try starting up again.
