Sims 3 Disks

I'm not sure if this is correct but I have the disks and also have them on Origin. I think you can launch it directly from Origin without the need of the disk because it will still open up the Sims 3 game launcher. I'm almost positive I've played directly through Origin before and it had all the expansion/stuff packs and store content installed.

You can download and install them through Origin without ever having to use the disks, and afterwards when you start palying, you dont need to put the disk to launch the game you just need to open Origin.

If you want to register your The Sims 3 games into your Origin, open the application, click on Origin in the top selection and in the dropdown menu choose "Redeem Product Code". Enter the serial code (that one you type in when you install the game with a disk) and choose next.

If you're getting a message that says you need a disc to proceed, the most recent pack installed must have been installed by disc. Origin offers a free digital copy for registered games. A digital install will not ask for a disc.
- Make sure you log in with the same account everything is registered to and you should find a digital copy for all registered games through the Origin client under the My Game Library tab.
- right-click the game title and click Show Game Details
- then click Extra Content to find all registered packs

If you get a new computer, you will need to reinstall everything but you can make abackup of your save files.

Just to note... You posted this in the Sims 4 section of the forum. Possibly you meant to post this in the Sims 3 section where it belongs. :) I've seen you post there before. I'm sure this thread will be moved so it's no problem... I'm just letting you know.

There's no other way around it without a mod or flat out with a digital install. (I just double-checked this since I have everything installed through disk.) Trying to launch the game through Origin will just land you with that same message needing a disc once the launcher loads. If you skip the launcher through game files, the message pops up once you reach the save file screen.

I'm currently trying to declutter my place. What would you recommend to do with the disks? Would you keep all of them? Or give them to the charity shop?...

I would never part with my discs for any reason other than mortal death! There are several reasons as to why I would keep them with the major reason being EA and Origin! The next would simply be because of how hard it is to currently find this game on disc. TS3 is an 11 year old game with a lot of life still left in it.

Sorry that was unhelpful but how I feel. When did you get your base game disc?

I cannot remember when I first got my base game disks, but it was a very long time ago! :flushed: I think after your replies I may have to keep them :wink:

@Chelseadude182 - If you are fortunate enough to have the original 2009 base game disc (which is what I have), I highly suggest keeping it! This is the only version which doesn't require Origin to use. Plus, you can keep your completed patch level at v1.67. The base game disc after 2012 is tied to Origin.
